Like I said, it isn’t cheap and it’s a bud. But it is that good, what can I say?

Funny enough, I received zero “shiller” comments until now :man_shrugging:

Yeah, my wallet is crying too. I have Riku’s Grand Rider 1’s and I am a bud fan now. I need to get this set but I wanted to get a turntable and some vinyl records first. :sob: Which way do I go lol.

Hey Nymz
How do ear buds fit into the ears? Do they seal? If not is the sound annoying to she who must not be awakened in the bed next to me? You said they are power hungry, can the cables be changed out for balanced? two pin?
Is there good solid, real bass?
Thanks, God Bless,
Wayne

Lol, yeah this hobby is going to leave me broke. I’m avoiding speakers though  A couple of months ago I went down the electrostatics rabbit hole. No regrets. Had to sell some gear to make that happen. Thankfully I have really settled into some gear I love.

No, they are akin to open-back headphones in that regard.

Isolation is poor with buds and that also means they do leak. (more than iems, not as much as open-back headphones.)

You only get that with basshead buds.

Hope you didn’t misunderstand re my “wallet” comment. I think 200 is fair considering your glowing review. Would never think you were shilling.
I’ts because I just got my first 2 iems and recently bought the Bifrost 2 so…,lol…

No worries, I didnt. To me at least, 200 is a lot already. But man, I can’t lie, they are very good for my instrumental library. Up yo yesterday, that was done by Zen Pro.

Testing spring tips right now. They do really help!! Thanks for reminding me! So much tighter.

@Rikudou_Goku already answered. The leak level also will relate to how loud you blast. My gf never complained about it. I believe everyone’s ear shape also affects this!

Thanks for the review! What kind of DAP would be able to drive these? Looking at the upcoming HiBy RS2 or iBasso DX170.

The “lower” price ranges (in inverted commas because it seems that in audio everything goes and the money we spend that we don’t have is not spent on other hobbies)
are eating up the intermediate ranges.
They need to wake up because it seems that one day one brand, by luck, R&D or both, will come up with an iem that rivals the top 1000€ brands.

It has been demonstrated that at high prices you pay more for exclusivity or whatever and not so much for improvements in sound.

DX170 should have no problem, (seems to be similarly powerful as the older DX160).

That driver has pretty high sensitivity.

(at least according to taobao. Most bud drivers are like this so that might be legit.)

Olina undercutting O2 in almost a third.
Chu costing 20$ and rivaling 100$ stuff.
7hz Zero incoming and some already say it will kill Chu.
Dioko costing 99$ as a planar iem.
Mele costing 50$ and even being endorsed by crin as the 50$ warm bassy IEM to get.
CRA costing 15$ and proving that you can achieve great bass without a cost.
Etymotic ER2 costing 50$ on sale and, if you stand the fit, being one of the most acclaimed sets ever.

This won’t stop. HBB going for the 20$ bracket. Crin going for the 20$ bracket. Will be a good year.

I’m also very curious about the RS2, but so far I’ve seen on information on the specs. If it’s close to R5 Gen2, you should be fine. DX170 should be even more powerful.

I hear a dynamic difference from my RU-6 to my Topping L30 and from the L30 to my SA-1. That’s 230mw, 3.5w and 6.5w @ 32ohm respectively.

If you need anything like that? Nah, don’t bother. I’m a maniac. But to me power is like HBB said before “Better have more than you need because you never know”. Anything around 1W should be more than enough. @Tfaduh runs it on gryphon and that’s 1W non-continuous so :man_shrugging:

Also, for anyone that loves dongles and buds at the same time, I’d rec the Ovidious B1. For iems it’s very lukewarm as it has too much power and will hiss, unless u use the impedance adapter that comes inside the box. For buds or headphones, it’s a bliss. On the warmer/analog side of the spectrum.

Tantalus is harder to drive tho. That’s a dampened 500ohm driver… oh well.

Edit: @ttorbic uses it on low powered sources and he loves it. He might be able to chime in better on this.

Glad everyone is taking a look on Serratus and enjoying the review.

I’m off for some jazz as I’ll be attending to a Jacob Collier live show today :dancer::dancer:

Have a nice friday / weekend!

It’s always kind of funny to me that audiophile people agonize over hearing the music “as the artist intended” and then you see videos of artists recording and they’re wearing like the M50x. So yeah, wanna hear it like the artist heard it? Get the M50x and stop worrying about it. (At the piano that looks like the m50x, though I’m not sure what that other headphone he’s wearing is.)
