Short description.

I like Danā€™s model, laying it out first by tiers what it means to him, then descriptions of each item. But short description is enough LOL, Danā€™s very (i.e. ā€œtooā€) detailed in this sense:

My personal style of doing a ranking tho, is like the way I did with yesterdayā€™s MEST vs Variations vs Tea, breaking it down to small segments of the sound signature since not one IEM is definitively better than another. I think thatā€™s how Michael Bruce does his:

I think Danā€™s model is suffice :call_me_hand:

Iā€™m just asking because Iā€™ve always had both models, to be honest.

I leaning the second one adapted for now, and maybe also share the other detailed sheet later

Iā€™ll be posting today some stuff for sale, if anyone is interested, let me know in PM. Iā€™ll be selling right now, all in very good condition with all original acessories:

  • [Dongle] Luxury & Precision W2
  • [DAP] Shanling M3X (with leather + silicone cases inside)
  • [Earbuds] Blur MX64 STE 4.4mm
  • [Open-back] Phillips Fidelio X3 (with dekoni pads as well). I can bro deal on these since the box is kinda big and my GF just wants it outta here

I think more details, more better (like your first example), but honestly I think you shouldnā€™t overthink it. If you already have a personal sheet, just make it public if itā€™s the least effort for you and there is nothing that speaks against it (like if there is stuff you donā€™t want people to know, etc.)

E5000? Yes, @nymz should totally get that. Murders the EJ07m, LBBS, Chaconne, Oxygen and all that with its godly vocals. Hidden gem right there.

Why not a compromise of both? S to E with short tl;dr like descriptions?

I love lots of details as well though, so either way is cool :3

@nymz What are you replacing your W2 with?

@nymz Iā€˜m seeing the RSV on the top of your list. Considered getting them myself.

I see the S, so you really got to love them. What would you say they excel in? :eyes:

I havent been using W2 that much, although I love this dongle. Iā€™m on a desk most of of the day, so Iā€™ve been using xd-05 bal only while at work and soon Iā€™ll also have topping nx7. On the move I use either a DAP, bluetooth or tws.

Iā€™ve now into a new office after almost 2 years of wfh. This one is further away from my home so Iā€™m doing bigger comutes and Subway is always packed. Anything that is just plug in plain like my sonys tws is just a dream. Also the ANC comes handy.

I thought I cared more about sound quality on the move but, the truth is, your favourite songs will make you happy anywhere with any kind of codec, as you just wanna get home. Critical listening is a whole different story, thoā€¦

Monarch OG - good tuning, poor technical characteristics. Monarch MK2 - good tuning (different from OG and therefore some do not like it), slightly better technical characteristics. Many other cheap ChiFi - worse tuning, much better technical characteristics of the two Monarchs. I donā€™t know when they will do both together - so listen to the IEM you like! I still havenā€™t given up on MK2, but I donā€™t know how much it justifies the $ 1,000 price? :upside_down_face:

What do you mean by poor technical characteristics of Monarch (both MK1 and MK2)?
What does have good technical characteristics in your opinion then in range up to 1k?

There are many IEMs that are cheaper and have a better soundstage, dynamics, better dynamic driver, separation. BA are also not the best for the asking price! Donā€™t get me wrong - I consider both to be good IEMs, but nothing more!

RSV has the best mids and vocals Iā€™ve heard, only beaten by EJ07 OG. Amazing timbre, reminescent of a DD, with very good mid bass. Treble is the sweet spot. Very well done, detailed, never fatiguing. Sparkles for days with good extension. You own Variations, the treble is that level (for me at least).

With some power the techs just open up and you just get in. Everything sounds natural and immersive, but lively. The layering and separation are to die for, giving the psycoaccoustic of 3D like EJs.

Sub bass is the weakest link. Not bad, but not great DD like.

Damn, I love rsv. RSV + ej07 og is the dream team.

One suggestion: can you add a column for the driver specs?
