What’s your take? I have yet to hear the Quintet but the Hype2 I like!

honestly… both products are good but in A/B tests I notice the Hype2 a bit more nasal… I prefer the Quintet timbre which sounds more airy to me.
I also notice the Quintet something more refined… a little more that if… it’s not day and night.
If you have Hype 2, don’t you notice that sometimes the main part of the music sounds like it’s inside your head? The depth is quite good but it lacks a little more three-dimensionality.

Even though Kiwi Ears Quintet receives mostly positive reviews, it’s not as popular as it could be - hopefully it doesn’t stop Kiwi from making experiments like this in the future.

They are very resolving, coherent, yet providing much fun.

Think I’ll stick with Meteor. Really like the extra midbass emphasis and Crimsons pinna gain seems a little undesirable from your description and chart comparison to Meteor. Thanks for the in-depth review and thoughts.

Tour feedback reminds me of the way I feel about OG tea: I like it because it does something different than any other set I have. And that difference feels so good!!

I wouldn’t advice OG tea as a main set, but for someone who already is in the rabbit hole… it’s a must have.

Is the Meteor still your favorite IEM? I seem to recall it being at or near the top around the holidays.

I bought the Tea because it was a bit different, and I liked it so much I also own the Tea 2, which might be my favorite IEM, but it is a bit more traditional in its tuning.

These are still my two favorites, followed by the P1 Max, then it is probably Kailua and Olina.

Not my favorite per say but it’s still in my roundup and has made a two purges since acquiring it. It’s my go to IEM for thumping snappy bass lines on Funk and Punk music. Still gets good use when I’m in the mood to bring emphasis to those genres.

Top gun is Glamdring right? :sunglasses:

Ironically my most used IEM for the past week has been the $20 Bonus IE. Glam is a beast still but, I’d have to say Aurora edges it out a bit in terms of what I’ve been listening to lately. Bonus IE gets the playtime for Hip-Hap/Rap and Aurora is favored for Reggae/Dub which are the genres I’ve been most listening to the most. If I’m throwing on any EDM genre Glam is 100% the set that’s coming out.

Oh, I always had you figured an an all-rounder listener but I guess I was a bit off

I am for the most part. For my preference and my library most of the IEMs I consider to be at least good all arounders. Most of my listening sessions are just hitting shuffle however, each IEM excels at certain genres to how I desire them to sound. Occasionally though I’ll be in the mood for a specific genre and bring out the set that it excels at. Last night was the Bonus IE with some 90s Hip-Hop and a few nights ago it was Glam with PsyTrance. Today on lunch break it was the Butastur with some 90s Grunge and Thrash. Tonight I’ll probably throw in the Aphex and just hit shuffle and see what comes up.

Man, I’m happy I’m not too specific about what genre I’m listening to through a specific IEM. That’s a whole other rabbit hole I don’t want to go down lol. Just give me a balanced (or maybe even U-shaped) sound signature with a bit of extra oomph in the bass region that makes my heart beat more ala something at least as good as Mele and I’m a happy boy! :boy:

Im similar to @MMag05 in that I like having sets that have a unique aspect to them yet still work for everything in my library. For instance, I equally enjoy my library through the Aure’s and the P1 Max’s but for slightly different reasons.

I think you are missing the sound quality section

It didn’t start that way and still necessarily isn’t. I can throw anyone of my IEMs in and consider everyone of then good all arounders for my library. As I listened to my favorite sets after a bit I start realize that each has a tuning that excels in certain genres and brings the music more alive to how I imagine it to be presented. Hence why occasionally I dedicate listening sessions to specific genres and this only recently started.
