I could roast a turkey with that :joy:

I had some people in the past come question my amp. Saying I might need more power, always fun to shove that number up their ass and they keep quiet afterwards. :smirk:

Desktop amps are a whole another level… People are cray cray

Oh no I don’t have the M3X. I was planning to get the M3X but I feel okay with my Sony A55 so far. Plus, I get to use my Fiio Q3 if I want a lil bit of extra juice to use either the 4.4mm or 2.5mm jacks. The FD5 definitely benefits with more power with the 2.5mm and 4.4mm jacks, while the Variations strangely feels just as fine with the 3.5mm.

I’m currently not sure what DAP I would want to get but I’m looking forward to read nymz’s impressions of the R5 Saber. The price is closer to the ibasso dx160 as well but it has a poorer battery life. I think RikudouGoku has the dx160 if I’m not mistaken.

Ah, I‘m sorry, seems I assumed something wrong

But thank you for the Input! Was considering a DAP, but my old jailbroken iPhone 6s that serves me as a DAP these days with foobar2000 and EQE is going strong :sparkles:

Also, I added the Songs you mentioned to my library to listen to :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

I got into KPop myself because my SO introduced me to it. Love Block B for example :3

Good grief. I clicked on the Loona links and they have 34 million ~ 45 million views.

Something tells me I must live a very sheltered life.

Hey no worries! Block B is pretty cool! I quite like some of Seventeen’s tracks as well as Day 6! If you need any korean songs recommendation, feel free to hit me up!

You’re living fine hahaha! There’s a lot of Kpop MVs that are around that view count, but yeah. Loona tend to have more international presence. Same goes for Mamamoo!

My personal favourite Loona track:

My current gear. The Q3 will be plugged either into my A55 or to my Macbook if I want to listen through Apple Music. I don’t like the Variations stock cable but since it’s mainly used at home and I’m not in a rush to get a new cable, the stock one will do just fine for now.

When I’m out chilling at a cafe, I’ll use the FD5. When I’m at the office, I’ll be using the Mele and when I’m home, I’ll use The Variations. Q3 and Variations stays home since I don’t need very detailed listening when I’m out and about. The A55 works wonders when I’m out due to it’s battery life. It’s also the weakest powered DAP but it still sounds great to my ears, so it got me wondering how the M3X and R5 Saber will sound like with more power on hand.

The more I typed this out, the more I realized how I got myself covered for my listening needs.

You’re. Save the money or use it for transducers. Time is alsoca factor. What’s good today will be obsolete tomorrow and new tech always comes in.

This is still about the music, not the gear :love_you_gesture:

Yup! You’re right! It’s all about the music that I enjoy and I am very very happy with what I have right now! I have to be grateful about it

Yes, but I never use it anymore…

Outside: Galaxy buds pro (TWS)

Gotta agree that TWS comes in handy. A well done TWS brings everything to the table and sacrifices too little, if you ignore the price. The convinience is priceless. I use one everyday now during comutes.

That reminds me, I wanted to try the autoEq profile for my Moondrop Nekocake. They sound great already, gut trying won’t hurt.

IMO, any tws must have an app with system wide eq and memory. I basicly eq’d my sony xm4s and never touched it again since it stores it in the memory.

We also have N400 incoming, so that will be a nice comparition

If Sony would not use proprietary connector instead of USB-C NW-A55 would be the go-to for a lot of IEM users including mine. There are good solutions for desktop, so low power is not a problem

I re-evaluated my needs and general situation on the market and realized how rationally well-set I am.
Source wise I have:

  • phone with quite good DAC and mini-jack (Zenfone 8) - for YouTube consumption + streaming services on-the-go (10% use scenario)
  • Shanling Q1 DAP - music listening at home in bed with IEMs + while commuting (40% use scenario)
  • IFI Hip DAC - music listening and meetings at work (50% use scenario)

Headphones:

  • Mangird Tea - go-to in most cases at home for critical listening + commuting
  • AKG K371 - general use at work
  • Tripowin Mele - supplementary at work when my ears are hot from over ears and Teas are deep down the backpack
  • Sony WF-1000XM3 - supplementary deep in the backpack if needed for YouTube/Spotify/meeting on-the-go

All of this told me that I should have all basic + alternative use scenarios covered.
I don’t need better DAP as I don’t have power hungry earphones on the go and streaming I can do from my phone (was eyeing Shanling M3X).
I don’t need better IEMs yet as Teas bring me a lot of joy every day (was looking at second hand MEST, RSV, new ej07m, timeless and generally all kind of sources).
I don’t need better desktop setup than hip-dac as it should be good enough balanced even for power hungry planars or something like HD6xx (was looking at MT-602, MT-604 and other random stuff)

I realized all that and thought it is not rational to spend single penny on anything.
Then I bought hifimans HE-400i 2020 + balanced cable today just because there was a nice offer on local audio forum :eye:

Ahahah you got me on the last paragraph. But it’s true, Teas are all you need
