Open Back Headphone Pairing with Fiio K3

Does anyone have any open back headphone suggestions?
I have a FiiO K3 that I use to drive my desktop audio, I am pretty content with it.
I am able to spend around $300 but I could potentially go a little higher.
I enjoy listening to music and playing video games, that would be the primary usage.

My past 4 pairs of headphones have all been from AudioTechnica and I was looking to branch out some.
Any advice or recommendations are greatly appreciated!

hi here any chance you can expend on which AT headphones and what music you are listening to?

Otherwise hifiman HE400i 2020 is pretty decent.

I usually listen to Classic Rock and some jam bands.

The 3 last AT’s I’ve had were the MSR7, WS1100IS (Ricardos) , and I recently picked up SR9.I’ve been happy with all 3 of them.

I will look into the reviews of the 400i 2020.

6XX with a small hybrid tube buffer might be a go. Ignore the 789 as that isn’t relevant but the tube buffer is and with a 6XX would be a really lovely budget combo with heaps of room for scaling if you get a Darkvoice in the future.

This of course is for desktop use.

Not a lot of power from the K3, need to run from 2.5 for most power.

I wanted to recommend Sennheiser 6xx/58x, but I’m concerned on the ability to drive higher impedance devices.

The 58x would probably be okay, and is much less source picky. It’s not the strongest for stage and imaging for gaming, I wouldn’t think, but would certainly be something different from the AT cans and is a very good set, imo. I generally wouldn’t mention Grados, it for the genres mentioned as ease of amping, it could be a good fit for something like a SR80 (assuming not too treble sensitive).
