Ok, i know at least one of you guys has this Pre-dac and is using it. I’ve been playing around with my main living room system and i think i finally decided i want a general purpose, mid-fi “control center” for the multitude of amplifiers and speakers i use. I’ve listened to all my DAC, pre-amp and amplifier combos the past few weeks In the living room and find myself tired of having to get creative constantly to integrate the subwoofer, or lacking volume remote etc.
I’ve done a bit of research and the Parasound Halo P6 seems to be a solid performer in its price bracket. It will work with both tube and SS amps, should allow me a pass thru for my HT should i decide to integrate it, and has all very useful features especially the premium subwoofer output which finally sold me on it. I was initially going to purchase the new classic 200 pre but the P6 seems to offer better overall performance and puts it in line with the rest of my equipment, not better, not worse Just about in the middle.
Does anyone have anything blatantly NEGATIVE or hateful to say about this unit? Anything else in a similar $1k-$2K price bracket i should take a look at with similar varied features?
Signal chain consists of Microsoft tablet via long usb cable playing Quboz, Tidal, youtube, direct to the P6 and then onto different amps and speakers as my mood changes. When the long cable gets annoying i Use BT via a Bludento BLT-2.
I have an Innous server but can’t figure out how to access it in other parts of the house, i don’t yet understand how those things work…
Thank you for your opinions.
I have one lol, it’s pretty nice and has lots of features (really like the easily accessible sub control). My main gripe is the dac is good but not great, but imo it’s not that huge of a gripe (the older p5 had a burr brown dac which I wish they kept). I do wish it had more balanced in and out, but for my current use case it doesn’t hamper me too much. I use it in my bedroom system connected to the halo a21+ and the BMR Philharmonitor speakers.
I mean, there are alot of used preamps in that price range, would have to get back to you when you have time
I assumed since it is SO feature rich there would be some areas lacking, and i can live with that for the addition of remote, sub out, XLR connections, filters, tone controls and good volume pot. The DAC worried me a small bit but honestly i believe it’s an upgrade from everything else i use now, ie. SMSLsu8, Pro-ject pre2, and cheap burr-browns.
The new classic 200pre still uses the old burr brown dac and is half the price. I was going to buy that one, it has the same basic features nd would serve well, i thought this one would be the upgrrade? No?
