Tried these for a day now. I’m not an X2 owner so I thought I’d give them a try and ignore some of the complaints when comparing them to the X2. They are fairly lacking in quantity at the lower end, when I switch on the bass siwtch on my FiiO K3 it delivers a bit more punch but I might be a basshead for all I know and in my opinion it could still use some more fun down there.
Most likely returning them because they don’t sound like anything too special. I’ve seen the re-review with pads and seen some more people comment a pad change gives them a bit more fun, but I’m sceptical whether it will be enough for me personally. Also the Dekoni pads are expensive for my wallet.

Not sure what other pair I should consider in the event I do return them. Maybe I’ll try the X2HR.

Also final note, the headband clamps my head quite a bit. Don’t know what it is but just about every headphone I wear kinda hurts on the top of my head after a while.

P.S. I got them for 200, would not pay anything more for these considering the competition.

I just ordered a set of these because they’re sitting at $120 on Amazon right now. I have X2HRs and love them, so I’m hopeful, but I’ll post my thoughts here once my pair arrive. I know they got kinda lambasted at launch for the price, but at roughly 1/3rd that price, I’m interested if they can replace my X2s.

Well that was short lived lol. I don’t think they’re bad, but even at the same price, I’d prefer the X2HRs still. Comfort isn’t as good imo. That might be due to wear-in on my X2s, but I also remember thinking the X2s were immediately comfy and the X3s did not give me that same feeling.

As for sound, bass is much thinner, and I don’t think I’d say they make up for it with way more detail or something like that. They just kind of sound like you’re getting less than what the X2 gives in general. They’re also a bit harder to drive, but I did my best to volume equalize them for my listening and even when they were basically the same loudness I still thought they sounded less full than the X2.

All in all, I’d skip them, even at $120. I think it would be worth paying the extra $30 to get the X2HRs, and obviously there are probably even better options around $150 these days, but I haven’t tried anything in awhile so I’m not up to date with any of that.
