I think the ATH-AD series are solid ‘audiophile’ starter cans. My first open set that were spendy was the MDR-MA900, still miss that pair, they were really easy to listen to

Yeah, those seem to be the in between of the KSC75 and KPH30i.

And the AD-700x is pretty good for gaming and music listening too. Not sure it is one of the “best” though.
