hello, I would like to receive some headphones recommendations! I’ve searched a lot here in the forum and in others too and I didn’t see any recommendations, usually the topics are unanswered, I hope to receive some help because I’m out of options , I wanted a portable phone preferably on-ear and wired, I need portability on the day day to day, being able to store the phone, so that it can be folded to put it in a small bag, be able to go out to drink and that it doesn’t break inside the bag, that it has a good sound and a decent construction too, I wanted an option that was outside a koss ksc75 and a kph30i.
Ive seen djs headphones, theyre fit more on what i need but i never used any, I saw the technics dj1200 headphone, but I have no idea if it’s good, I wanted something like that, foldable, small & etc… but other options.
What’s your budget? My missus uses a pair of wired Sennheiser Momentum 2’s ok not super audiophile but don’t sound bad either, they’re not quite on ear but do have small cups, fold down nice and small, come with a carry case and are easily driven by a phone
I’ll be a little cheeky and sat the Koss porta pros lol. In all seriousness though a budget and sound preference would help us recommend something.
Some inexpensive options that fold flat that come to mind are the grado SR80x and one that is inexpensive plus built well is the sivga SV021.
I mean koss are open too sooooo…
Idk if I’ve read where grados died from being put in a bag but honestly on ear isn’t something I really pay attention too.
Personally I’ve never heard a DJ style headphone that sounded good to my ears so I wouldn’t ever recommend them.
A lot of people like the AKG K371 for just this kind of application. They fold up, the cups are oval rather than AKG’s normal circular design to make them smaller when folded, and people who have owned them for extended periods seem to have found them to be pretty robustly built.
I owned them for a couple weeks because I had heard they were supposed to be the successor to my beloved K553MkIIs and I wanted to compare them against each other. I ultimately preferred the K553s, but I didn’t need them to be portable. If portability was a factor for me, I would gladly have kept the K371. In it’s price range, the K371 seems to be a pretty good deal. Maybe someone who has owned them for longer can expand upon this.
Let me throw a wrench into the mix and ask what about IEMs?
You have some insane bang for buck IEMs like the 7Hz Salnotes Zero, 20$ but amazing sound, come with some good tips. You pair that up with something like a BTR3k or even a FIIO TWS if you want full wireless, and you got something insanely small sounds good and if something happens its less than a 100$ to replace it
Of course there are other IEMs but those are one of the best value in the IEM market right now (IMO)
Hm maybe something like the Sony 1am2 would call it on ear and a phone should drive it, just not sure if it’s foldable
Otherwise a easy going HP with umpf in the low-end so good for outside
I was looking for something similar to the sound of the koss ksc75, it’s not a problem to be open back, I used the term “dj style”, just to give a foldable and super compact headphone parameter, I really want something more compact than an akg k361, I found the akg k404 and the k420 but I don’t know about the sound and compared to the ksc75. I just wanted something with a better construction than a koss ksc75/porta pro, foldable and with a sound similar to the ksc75 and that is not power hungry, preferably cheap.
i already have an iem (dunu titan s), and i got tired of using iem after using it for more than 10hrs a day for a few years, it bothers me now to feel something in the ear canal
I don’t know about the K404, but I do have a pair of AKG K451s that fold up quite small and come with a nice compact hard case to store them and their cables (one with mic and one without). I personally prefer the sound of the K451s to something like the PortaPros (which I find to be muddy and don’t at all understand the hype surrounding them). They have a mild v shape kind of tuning and they maintain a reasonable level of detail/fidelity for use on the go for sure. They can generally be found quite cheap too so maybe they’d suit your needs.
