Rant thread - share your grievances, not just audio

This is not a grievance, just a convenient excuse! lol

soundstage just doesn’t make much sense to me… all headphones are just in your head to me, and i have trouble understanding things… i just know that i might not be powering headphones enough or not loud enough… but i get nervous i will destroy my hearing but if i dont destroy it the impact and violence of headphones isn’t as strong. the punches aren’t as immediate with absolutely no attack… i guess i dont understand anything because all headphones sound better louder but im scared i will destroy my hearing more than i already have (i have a bit of tinnitus that is especially notable late at night while sleeping where it feels like my head is rumbling if i close my ear and my ears are giving a high pitched noise). so headphones are so frustrating but i enjoy them compare to speakers because i dont like the coloring of the room

It’s also dependant on the type of headphones you’re using. Some headphones, especially a good number of closed backs dont have much in the way of sound stage.

i mean my sennheiser aren’t great with soundstage so i dont have MUCH experience

i just am confused with imaging, soundstage, dynamics, and all this stuff… i just want a specific thing and im having a bad case of upgrade addiction

What’s the typical ship out time for APOS now a days?

I made an order to APOS on Saturday. Now I’m being told it should be another 5-7 business days before it can ship. They didn’t give a reason. I’m glad I didn’t pay extra expedited shipping which I was considering. If it’s COVID related, a disclaimer saying to expect significant delays would be appreciated

$9/hour is not enough to expect perfection, particularly when I am expected to keep a hold on teenagers and do everything where no one can match my speed. But oh, wait, they just need “direction”. I’m fucking sorry, if I’m not standing there next to them, walking them through it every God DAMN time, ain’t shit gonna get done, and they never know how to fucking do it.

I played Darkest Dungeon…and I regret playing it. I should have listened to my best friend who is known to be a veteran rogue player and he is not easily pissed off when it comes to playing those. When you know that your best friend a very good rogue player got damn pissed playing Darkest Dungeon, I knew I should have stayed away, therefore I regret it and I hate myself for that.

Silicone ear tips always fall off

Sure I just put them in by just putting them in my ears but silicone tips always get slippery and fall out, I might get foam but I don’t like the idea of rolling them and putting them deep in your ears then waiting and then putting the iem canal tunnel in

I share that sentiment when I am using my SpinFit ear tips for my Tin T2s for they always fall out or get stuck in my ear every time I try to remove my T2s. A pain in the ass, so I had no choice but to use those tips to my ZS10 Pros and man they are better fitted there compared to the T2s.

Tips are the most annoying part of an iem but I dunno what id want because I don’t wanna roll in and fear getting stuck and I don’t want them to be so easily slippery (or maybe I should just use the wire a certain way)

I agree that the roll, insert and hold routine is a hassle, but it’s worth it to get a good seal and not worry about slipping. I don’t worry about them getting stuck. The routine has prevented me from exporing the IEM world beyond my one set (Moondrop Starfields). Throwing on a pair of over-ears is just so much faster and easier. Especially when people try to talk to you - with IEMS you have to take out one earphone, listen to whatever they’re saying, then roll, insert and hold again. With open backs you can just pause the music while they talk and restart when they’re done!

I suspect I will buy the ER options from Etymotic and stay there. just roll the tips until I find something comfortable as my ear canals are small and their tubes are tiny.

what sucks is that i really like IEMS for using on my LG phone/DAP because its hard to carry portably bigger headphones and i get caught almost ASAP. so i need at least 1 IEM (im getting the shozy 1.1 i think) and then figure out what wire and what ear tips to use that wont slip too much but dont require the roll off shit because it is frustrating and probably uncomfortable compared to just “put the IEMs in your ear and listen and have something nice and cold to put in your ear and listen”

True, over-ears aren’t always the best for on the go. For portability and convenience I use a pretty sweet set of earbuds - https://penonaudio.com/he-150pro.html. The HE 150 Pros are only $30, sound great, and are super easy to put in. Definitely not as immersive as an IEM, but still good.

oh earbuds just are HORRIBLE imo… i need a kind of ear tip… i never lids earbuds like the apple airpods or anything else… give me something that can plug in a BIT

I’ve decided to turn off Upsampling on Audirvana for a while. I’ve tried every setting imaginable and outside of helping MP3s not be absolute garbage, I’m not sure what I get out of what is essentially a pure software filter.

I plan on getting a mscaler for my Hugo TT2 later down the line.

They do on my Spring 1’s i’m gonna use some P100 wet and dry on the nozzles as a key to see if that helps :man_shrugging:

Can I just say that it is incredibly irritating watching the tracker of the delivery driver your package is on bounce around one freaking neighborhood FOR 5 HOURS!!!

Your constant checking has probably jinxed it. It probably won’t show up now until tomorrow lol.

I hate it when a package due to arrive never shows up. And then the status information doesn’t get updated until 10 o’clock that night. Or when a package is delayed multiple times and UPS tracking service spams you with emails everyday saying it’s now supposed to come that day…

Definitely not taking a second look at Tidal. Ever. Not after a burn like this. Decided not to continue after the free period, so I canceled the subscription, receiving a confirmation email about it:

But 5 days later, I got a charge for it anyways, and yes, it cleared.

I tried contacting their customer support right away, with the first two screenshots, and this is their response:

Needless to say, I’m rather livid right now.
