šŸ”· RebelAmp

I have the RebelAmp and T50 Argons (massdrop editions), and they are powered just fine.

T50s and by extension Argons, are by no means the power hogs theyā€™re made out to be. They will honestly work on a phone (my wife does this regularly).

Donā€™t stress the power

Yeah I mean they are not very efficient, 92db vs 103db of the HD6xx.
Some IEM amps are probably not suitable, but the majority of good headphone amplifiers support them just fine.

I mean I still struggle to understand completly those numbers. Eikons are 98db and 300ohms and those sound pretty dope on rebel

For every 3 decibel sensitivity difference between the two headphones, you will have to double the amplifier power of the lower db rated headphone to have matching volume.

Between the T50 and Eikon, thats 4x the volume difference at the same wattage.

Though variance will occur with ohm rating for each headphone too.

Edit: Anyways a watt is plenty of power for any headphone really.

@NoName I liked it when I had it (sold it recently when I was cleaning out alot of my stuff), it was pleasant sounding. The rebelamp is a more spacious and energetic sounding amp, that is a bit forward almost w shape? (possibly more fun bright?), works well for most music. Itā€™s pretty punchy overall tbh. I wouldnā€™t call it a natural amp but it is enjoyable for most things I plugged into it. I think itā€™s a good reasonable to other amps in the 500 buck price range although I donā€™t really know if it anything to really impress me compared to those alternatives

I was hoping you give your thoughts on it when you have time,so thanks. I bought it to have something to compare with and I like it on most my current headphones. Love the color

Anyone have a matching dac? I would love for something the same size underneath.
Looking at the Schiit Yggdrasil but not sure I want to blow a fortune at the moment.

Try AUNE X8 Magic and put it on top.

ā€¦my guess is it will toast.

It shouldnā€™t. Zeos use it that way.

Just found in mail that itā€™s avaliable again. Iā€™m not much into buying a new stuff around now, but you never can tell

Have to say I like the amp (and the color!) a lot, so it makes me wondering if anyone can tell or estimate how much of a change (for better I hope) would I get with my K712s which Iā€™m using with Aune X1s/X7s combo?

Iā€™m mostly listening to (any sorts of) progressive music - basicaly from 70ā€™s which I love the most to progressive death metal of the recent years - and classical music. I like what I hear with these - the full sound with lots of details and space along with the enough low end and instruments separation.

Itā€™s just that from time to time it makes me thinking where I can get for better sound - valid for both the dac/amp and the headphones

I have the two amplifiers,
I donā€™t think it will be a mind blowing experience. They are both class A, and have a similar sounds signature to them.

Thanks a lot, seems like Iā€™m gonna save some bucks (for now)

Iā€™ve been on the fence about this amp for a while still waiting on more reviews to pop up but to no availā€¦, Iā€™m stuck between whether I should go for this, one of the Flux labs class A amps, or save the money and go for something cheaper like the Asgard 3. As an upgrade from my V1 schiit magni its been quite a while since Iā€™ve decided to drop some cash on a new amp and Iā€™m unsure of how much of an upgrade it could even be at the mid range 500ish price point, or vice versa if something as cheap as the Asgard 3 could be a huge upgrade over my original magni. I do prefer a tiny bit of warmth and a little bit of punchiness to my sound and Iā€™m just trying to upgrade my setup piece by piece with what little money I have

I went with an Asgard 3.

As much as I do still want a RebelAmp, the Asgard felt like a better path for me given that I have Argons on the way. A power output upgrade seems like a more perceptible difference to me than audio quality but Iā€™m still dabbling in the lower end I guess - Iā€™m sure thereā€™s a whole world of difference with more expensive gear but frankly, I donā€™t want to know what Iā€™m missing out because I canā€™t afford it anyways lol. Ignorance is bliss

Yeah youā€™re right honestly, given the fact that the Rebel amp is literally an entire paycheck for me. Iā€™m starting to lean more towards the Asgard myself. I guess I can always return things if it doesnā€™t work out for me.

I have both asgard and rebel and had one more expensive amp for a while and decided to stick with rebel as main amp an asgard as a backup just because asgard is great amp and really hard to get in eu.
My ear doesnā€™t hear too much of a difference compared to more expensive one and rebel drives my main headphones very nicely.
Asgard sounds a bit warmer to me and rebel a bit more controlled but thatā€™s like all I can hear when I focus on the fact if I can hear a difference more than on the music.
And I realized that is not what I wanna do when listening to music. So pick what you like and can afford and enjoy your music. If you can return it in case you donā€™t like it that is always a bonus.

What headphones would pair well with the RebelAmp? Iā€™ve been A/B testing the RebelAmp and the Topping A90 and out of 30-40 tracks I could hear differences in 2.

I use the Neumann NDH-20s. The Rebel Amp, to me, is basically a super warm THX amp. It feels like it fills in all the gaps THX is missingā€¦ if that makes sense. Thick and juicy, but not sloppy. The NDH-20s really bring it out. Iā€™ve also used the Fidelio X3s, but I ended up returning those.
