Currently i own 4 different IEMs. Right now i’m debating (with myself) whether i should replace their cables or the stock cables are good enough. I have:
Moondrop Aria
KZ ZS10 Pro
BLON BL-03
QKZ VK4
On which ones would you truly recommend changing the stock cable? Bonus question: which cables can you recommend for which IEM?
Of those I only have the Moondrop Aria .I recently picked up the Drop copper 2.5mm cable on sale for $19. At that price its great cable. I actually like the stock Aria cable, but mainly wanted to make use of the 2.5 balanced output of my BTR5. That combo was a noticeable sonic improvement. Probably more due to utilizing the balanced circuit of the BTR5 than the wire, but the wire does seem well made and not expensive.
You can check the “Cable Ranking” tab in @Rikudou_Goku 's spreadsheet:
But the thing about cables is that you get a cable to replace the plasticky, easily tangled original cables. Replacement cables serve only (some people may differ) aesthetics and comfort purposes.
