Burn-in is a complicated topic. I believe in brain burn-in more than actual headphones burn-in, but i still leave my new headphones playing pink noise overnight for a week or so, because why not?
My latest was the Ananda, i did not really like it at all at first and i was enjoying my LCD2C too much to even bother listening to them, so i left them burning in for a few days without even listening and then when i tried them again it was different and i started enjoying it a lot!
For this to be caused by brain burn-in i would have to listen to the frequently, no? Now i am not sure what to believe, once again, lol
By looking at those rtings measurements you can see that there is no audible difference, so who know…

I had the same mindset, I believed there was nothing like burn-in really, because like what would the difference theoretically be?..
Then I bought 1more tridents (DD and piezo tweeter headphones) and the first song I heard with them was just meh… the bass was muddy and overwhelming.
But just a few hours later it was like a different headphone. Also, I dont believe it was “brain burn-in” cause I had my friend listen to them straight out of the box and then after a few hours, he said the same thing, they definitely sounded very different. (and much better)

If there are any changes, it is going to be in the first few hours.
But I still point that at other factors such as insertion depth/angle being the culprit that made those changes. Because insertion differences do matter a lot and I learned that first hand by graphing iems myself.
Definitely. The changes in headphones could be in the pads being less stiff after few hours of wearing or just in my case it can be because of the driver config… who knows what happens with piezo tweeters
Dont think piezo drivers should need burn in.
Well, i dont know. It is a fkin plate of crystals that moves really fast …it was just a speculation.
Piezo drivers = ceramic drivers.

Ok, I didnt know what piezoelectric materials they were using, but the principle is the same.
I didnt even want to talk about tweeters, I just dont know what caused the massive difference in sound replay on my headphones tbh.
I just realized the headphones should also have a passive radiator behind the DD. Could be also that.
I dont have a fkin clue
@Rikudou_Goku what’s the price range for a mid tier earbuds? Feels like the prices are all over the place.
Probably around 50-80 usd. Although I dont know if the ones I got in that price range counts as mid-tier.
I kinda think you should only get the low-tier and then jump to high/TOTL tier if you want to…
I’m still earbuds curious rn. Do you have a recommendation for an earbuds that’s good for soundstage? I’ve been reading the earbuds thread in headfi and looks like soundstage is one of the advantage for earbuds.
Literally everyone of them have great soundstages lol. The ones that are bad at it are just bad overall (usually).
NiceHCK MX500 is a great starter bud IMO. Otherwise, the Yincrow X6 is the most “iem like” in the bud world.

Ah ic. I’ll try to find the MX500. Thanks for the rec.
Oh, interesting. That is definitely an earbud.
2021-05-18: I added a new column that tells you the value, the “bang for the buck” you get with cables with the column called “conductance/price” (with the little description that higher is better to make it more clear on what it is).
You can right click on the column (D) and sort it by “Z->A” which gives you the highest value first and thats the best “bang for the buck” cable.
Credits to PhonoPhi on head-fi for helping me with this.
Also, just a little teaser. But I am close to finished with a big project that you guys will probably appreciate. (hint, it has to do with my graphs. )
