šŸ”· RME ADI-2 DAC

Iā€™ve been playing with my 2020 FS model and trying to use the different features, and what Iā€™ve realized is that the IEM output really is exceptional. I have a few different amps that I use for sensitive IEMā€™s and HPā€™s and they work really well and provide me great satisfaction, the output on the RME ADI-2 fs seems to please me most though.

I happen to very much like this DAC version and the level of clarity and utter lack of ANY hiss at all gives me great pleasure and joy. For a guy whose hearing is supposedly deteriorated I find myself particularly sensitive to hiss and the RME seems to be the absolutely most hiss free unit I have had the pleasure of owning. Iā€™ve got a few hours on this thing and not a single track has annoyed me yet.

The other thing I have found is that this IEM output also works really well on very sensitive headphones. My Fischer M12s had been regulated to collecting dust until I decided to try them on the RME and Iā€™ve now had them on for over 2 hours and
re-newed my appreciation for their capabilities.

This was a good reminder to me that I have not been spending enough time mixing and matching equipment lately to find the synergy amongst pieces. Iā€™ve been wasting so much time shopping for new stuff I have not been actually playing with whatā€™s in hand. I havenā€™t even tried the HP output yetā€¦

I did manage to lock up my bass and treble boost, Iā€™ve been through the menuā€™s multiple times and even turning the EQ on via the remote wonā€™t unlock them. If anyone has a clue which setting I managed to lock up please let me know.

Thereā€™s a dedicated setting for switching treble/bass adjustments on and off. Press the I/O and then navigate to the bass/treble menu using knob 2.

Ok, so I believe you and the the others who keep telling me this but for the life of me no matter how many times i scroll through this particular menu I cannot seem to find the dedicated B/T line. I see the DUAL EQ and every other line but not one says B/T :triumph:
I know this is user error and it is frustrating

You have to go to the very top of the menu and then turn knob 2 to access the other sub menus. Itā€™s not intuitive I know lol

Ha! I knew there were more menuā€™s somewhere because I obviously locked the stupid thing while scrolling through them at some point. Thank you for figuring out what my dumb ass was not seeing! :+1:

It does not turn off when the unit is off. The whole unit does go dark when it is on and in dark mode (or whatever they call it). I found the red circle so irksome that I just leave mine on 24/7.

Thanks for the comments on the ADI-2 power light, seems like it wonā€™t be as much as a nuisance as I thought it would be.

Where is everyone getting their ADI-2 FS? Iā€™m probably going to pull the trigger and purchase from RME Shop, not sure if anywhere else has it cheaper.

Was also looking at Thomann to maybe get it with a stand but RME Shop still seems to be cheaper.

Thomann, because 3 years warranty and 30 days send back

The issue I have with Thomann is that they only ship with an EU plug, and I live in Japan.
I believe RME Shop offers 2 year shipping with 7 day send back, which is still good.

Here in the U.S. I got mine from b&h photo

Absolutely obsessed with mine! Pairs great with the A90 and a tube rolled Darkvoice.

How different is the ADIā€™s built in headphone amp then the A90ā€™s?

RME is very nice tech.
I just hooked Elex right to it.

Not hugely different. The A90 has a bit more powerful and is a little bit more neutral sounding imo but thatā€™s probably just my imagination.

What do you think of the ADI-2 now?
Do you still like it?
