Rolling DACs? Really?

Hmm. Still cannot decide, perhaps will postpone buying this year and get some cheap chinese IEMs on 11.11

Currently cannot decide between AUDIO-GD R2R 11, Schiit Multibit, Airist R2R. Problem with the Schiit is that is not 249 USD in europe, its more like 300+ euros, which makes it really close to other too.

I would rank the dacs in this order (higher quality first) Drop Airist, r2r 11 = Modi Multibit. I guess I would rate the audio gd higher since it also has a headphone amp too

I do think the modi multibit is the cleaner dac then the audio gd, but the 11 has a more tube like character

I would also check to see if you can get a Soekris DAC1321

Weirdly got a deal on Audio GD in estonia for 265 euros. Also found a Soekris 1321 in poland for under 200.

Those are pretty good, I would say the 1321 is the better dac, but you do get a powerful headphone out with the audio gd

Got the Audio GD already and did not expect the HUGE difference in sound. With the Klipch RP600Ms there was always a slight sence that a little bit of low end is lacking and I even hooked up a sub for frequencies below 50hz.
After changing to Audio GD DAC it feels like there is too much low end and I had to use tone controls on my amp. Strange how different a DAC can be.

Is definetelly not as detailed as the SU8 for example, but feels wider, warmer and more natural. More musical. The SU8 is searching for details that are not important in music and is fatuiging, while the R2R dac feels more relaxed and better for longer listening. Guitars and vocals sound absolutely superb. But ofcourse I can only comment on rock/metal related things as I will refuse to play any mumble rap or pop from my nice system.

So I recently got to listen to the convert 2 for awhile and itā€™s pretty nice for sure. I think its a really good dac for what they ask. I donā€™t think it will replace what I have in the studio right now but man its got lots of features and sound really good. Probably better bang for the buck then what I have now lol

You mean this one?

Yes that is the modi multibit

Cool, thx!
Trying to find a R-2R Dac and as the Airist is not on Drop atm and a Soekris is quite steep in price (though it is made by a fellow Dane), I am looking around.

Iā€™m in the same boat. Wonder whether an r2r DAC would pair will with an RNHP amp specifically

Both work fairly well, I just donā€™t prefer something overly analytical dac wise with the rnhp

What dacs sub $1000 would be examples of overly analytical?

I guess it didnā€™t catch prefer lol. Typically there arenā€™t that many overly analytical dacs out there, some of the older dacs may fall into that category, but I donā€™t really think itā€™s something to worry about, itā€™s more preference here. If you want to lean towards more accurate or something, you could pair it with an adi 2 or something, and warmer you could go schiit multibit or r2r which also gives you a fair amount of options

So what dac do you use on your RNHP? Any specific amp below $500 you recommend pairing it with? Iā€™d rather not go soekris and pay 3 times the price of the amp, lol

Well I have it connected to a lavry quintessence, but thatā€™s because itā€™s used for studio l, so I give it a nice studio dac

Haha I expected it would be something like this or would cost like 10k or something. How about something below $500?

Would this Audio Gd or the Massdrop Airist R2R be a big upgrade over the Audio GD R-11 R2R dac output?
