Just came across this on Reddit. I hope this will be a real thing.
The post reads: Engineered by Axel Grell formally of Sennheiser!

Fingers crossed.

Anyone has more information, please post. A dedicated thread would also be appreciated - though I suppose, after some more insight on this.

4 drivers in each earcup. 2 x Tweeter/Mids drivers, 2 x Bass/Lows drivers.

Kickstarter kick-off in about 2 weeks.

Here’s the reddit link.

Okay, but those are different from these, no? As of yet, unknown quantity.

Those are TWS iems. Keep expectations low for those headphones…

Hmmm… okay let’s let this unfold then…

I mean… It looks interesting. Strange that they would specifically market this for metalheads… Unless I’m mistaken, most headphones that take this degree of multi-driver approach don’t do too well.

@ATK heavy metal…so rebranded Grado?

missed this over the holidays…kinda astonished at this one. Wouldn’t the PSU be the most audio impacting part of a streamer/player? Who cares about the MB?

the mobo has hella noisy EM from all it’s sub-systems and heir bits n pieces. problem is they didn’t do anything too really take care of the EM issues because they left so many of the sub-systems that are not important for an audio PC, so it’s not really all that optimized but for name.

Which grados?

it was a bit tongue in cheek as Grado’s are known for their peakiness, which for some reason my memory says is good for heavy metal.

Wow, that looks spectacularly awful! 4 way design?! It just get more and more stupid!

That’s the TWS iems, not the headphones.

Harman releases a $1000 headphone!

well, it’s actually a subsidiary, Mark Levinson. in short, it’s mostly metal construction, lots of leather, uses 40mm beryllium drivers and supports LDAC, AAC and aptX Adaptive codecs via Bt 5.1.

oh, and it’s got ANC. reported to give you 30 hours of playtime with ANC on and up to 34 hours with it off and in 15 min can get enough charge for 6 hours of play.

the ANC and the inherent issues that come with it give me major pause in tinkling this will actually be any good, even if it’s tuned to the decades in the making ‘harmon curve’. :stuck_out_tongue:

That is certainly a pretty big gamble for a first headphone… Particularly when asking for such a high price…

yeah, especially considering the people that’ll buy it have most likely heard much better lol

they’re betting on brand recognition and associated quality. it is, le sigh, another lifestyle product.

Seems like they mostly want to target existing Mark Levinson customers, it’s a luxury brand pretty much. While the price is silly, wireless headphones tend to have deep discounts once newer versions come out, so if this is actually well-engineered, it might be a good buy at like $300 few years down the line. The red version is pretty garish but the other two look almost alright, even if not exactly stylish.

So, how high is the “Mark Levinson tax?” Are these probably $350 headphones being sold for triple because of the brand name?

This reminds me of the Converse All-Star sneakers designed by John Varvatos, which are basically Chuck Taylors with more leather and sparkle and sold for nearly twice as much.

P.T. Barnum was right: There’s a sucker born every minute.
