Hang on? What kind of driver is that?
Dynamic driver. Not sure on diaphragm material.
I found a full pamphlet here: 【iBasso SR3】报价_参数_图片_论坛_iBasso iBasso SR3,艾巴索SR3耳机报价-ZOL中关村在线 which seems to have some driver details but unfortunately I don’t read the language. But maybe someone else can translate.
Why do I always expect carbon fiber to be the glossy black thingy like on the cars…
I think someone said the diaphragm of the SR2 was carbon fiber and I corrected them and told them they are spreading misinformation…
SR3 = open-back SR2
At least from my understanding, because I don’t see any major differences, I’m expecting the driver to be the same. I’ll likely ask iBasso directly about all the changes
they do if it involves a 25 core paper tube voice coil! LoL!
I don’t get the reference…
It’s just my stupid nasty little mind
The word combination “Big Black” followed by a word beginning with “C” (short BBC) is usually something else
I just could not unsee it when reading the description in the picture above
I agree with you. For me too, the phrase made me think about a big black cow
(10 char)
heh! that was what went through my head when I saw it but the topic had no context connection I thought it was a reference to something audio related.
/me slaps @Rinderkappajoe LoL!
Yep. 'Cause it’s over, now, drink your BIG BLACK COW, and get outta here!
Fingers crossed, I’ll get my hands on one as well
Jamato8 likes his SR3 more than his Utopia, at least from what he said.
“I prefer the SR3 to my Utopia now. I listen to the SR3 and then the Utopia, which I still like, but the Utopia sound a little hollow. They sound a little more open (the Utopia) but this is because they are slightly hollow sounding, which I had not noticed before, until the SR3 comparison.”
This may be an unpopular opinion, but the Utopia is one of the least impressive of the TOTL headphones I have tried, which includes most of the well known sets out there. The new version is slightly better, but it still doesn’t do it for me. I’m NOT saying the Utopia is a bad headphone, just that it doesn’t have that “it factor” that I expect from the best of the best. When I listened to other TOTL models, even the pairs that didn’t fit what I was looking for in tuning or presentation, I could still easily hear what made them special for other folks.
That said, for the SR3 to stand up to the Utopia is a BIG claim. I’d love to hear a pair to see/hear for myself.
I just had to smile, because I was thinking the same.
I’ve just had the pleasure of hearing the Focal Utopia on both, the in-house Naim headphone amp and the Feliks Audio Envy.
Despite all the undoubted technical qualities, Focal headphones rarely sound truly “natural”.
Jamato8 also put the SR2 up with the Utopia. He owns a bunch of special and TOTL headphones, but yeah, he’s the only one that’s putting the SR2/SR3 up there with the Utopia.
@M0N has a completely different opinion, he didn’t find the SR2 to be anything spectacular, and would not place the SR2 anywhere near the Utopia
@JAnonymous5150 must die for his heresy. BURN HIM IN WITH SOMETHING PEAKY!!!
@hit_the_right_note you have disappointed me by hitting the wrong note…BURN HIM IN TOO!!!
