Fingers crossed they don’t run into Modius issues before your Jot2 is done…

Got my Jot 2 and Modius today! This is an upgrade from the Modi3 and Magni3 Heresy.

Very first impression on this new setup with balanced:

With my Clear MG Pro’s I only need to set the volume to 9 o’clock. Anyone else experience with this setup? This is even on low gain…crazy that’s all I need to turn it up to, but I suppose a more efficient setup as well.

For schitts and giggles, my bitrate in windows 10 I set to 24/48. It set it to 32/48 but noticed the Modius is a 24/192 dac max. Don’t even think that part even matters. I have windows also set to exclusive mode options as well. So far just listening on this setup to Amazon Music HD.

Needless to say I am impressed right away.

Very sleek setup!

I wasn’t sure so I had to go look at mine, and sure enough, using XLR out, I’ve got my knob set just a hair above 9 o’clock.

Congrats on the new setup! I really dig the black colorway, looks great and makes for a good looking stack.

When running Low impedance High sensitivity headphones as the Clear MG pro (55 Ohms / 104 dB SPL) what you are experiencing with the volume pot range is normal. I rarely got my volume pot past the 9 o’clock position myself.

This is a matter of preference and what works best for your setup. I typically set Windows 10 to 24/192 for shared mode, for things like You tube videos and apps without options for setting exclusive modes, and then as you are doing, set other players that can to “Exclusive”.

The Modius is a pretty great DAC, IMO the best in its class. The Unison USB is very nice and then having the option to run balanced out into your Jot 2 is an added bonus. The Schiit products synergize really well with each other.

Let the Music Play and Enjoy that Schiit! !!

Yep, ran this stack myself for a few months and it was the same for me with the Clear Mg. With some songs I could go to 10 or 11 on the pot on low gain, but it typically stayed between 8 and 9.

Still waiting on my order, april 29. Bf2 and jot.

Jots are shipping in just 1-3 days now, so I assume the Bifrost is what’s holding yours back. It’s a kickass amp though, well worth the wait.

Yep saw that. Unless it’s black

Just cancelled my month old order for a Black 230VAC since Silver 230VAC is showing in stock. Bird in the hand etc.

e: added on their new ESS card for self-install. Will see if it’s any good.

Hey guys, I currently have the Jot2 with a multibit addon on order and because it’s taking forever I was wondering if I just be patient or would the Topping DX7 pro be a good replacement. I currently have a Schiit stack modi/magni 2 paired with sundaras, and I plan on upgrading to the Ananda’s in the next year or so.

Hi, I have a question for Jotunheim 2 users,
How is the volume knob set with Ananda, Clair or Sundar headphones, with a low gain setting ?
(I mean balanced output)
I’m afraid if Ananda or Clair are too sensitive to this Amp

I know, I am in the same situation. I ordered just the Jot with no module but it still seems like the wait is going to be excessive. And I have to admit I am starting to look at other options.

I do have the luxury of having the SP200, though. This is an amp that has performed extremely well. I have and continue to enjoy it very much, so I think I can hang on, because in the end I think the Jot will be worth the wait.

Having said that, it wouldn’t hurt to get some form of communication every so often just to let you know they haven’t forgotten about you.

Without EQ I am at around 10-11o’clock depending on the tracks that I am listening to on my Ananda. Balanced in via Modius and 4-pin XLR out on low gain.

thanks a lot, it’s not as bad as i expected :grinning:

Can’t speak for the ananda or sundara, but I run my clears through balanced at 10 O’clock on the dial. No imbalances or anything like that.

Got my Jot and ES9028 card. They missed the mounting screws for the tiny L frame that helps brace the USB-C port against the backplate. Schiit has dutifully put new screws in the mail for me, but I ended up installing the card anyway since the backplate and standoff are sufficient (I’m going to be very gentle with the port until I get the L-frame in).

Hooked up with a cheap USB 2.0 A to C cable and sounds pretty much as expected. Less proficient than the JNOG2 I’m comparing to, but certainly worth the $100. Particular part is the ES9028Q2M variant for those interested. First Unison product for me, much improved over Gen 5 usb in regard to electrical noise pickup from my PC. Absolute plague on the Modi 3 I owned previously, but dead silent on Unison.

Less gain compared to the JNOG2 - also expected, but somewhat of a non-issue given the Jot 2’s power reservoir. For my DT1990s and HD6xx this resulted in a shift from using volume at around 9-10 o’clock position to around an 11-12 o’clock position. This is much less pronounced when controlling the pre-outs to a powered sub and monitors which remained at approximately the same level for both sources (9-10 o’clock).

Overall I think this card makes for a very interesting value proposition. Since it’s accessible via pre-outs, it makes a certain kind of sense to compare it to the Topping D10B, SDAC-B, Modius, or Audio Interfaces with Balanced Line outs (Scarlet Solo et al). I think it’s easily a better performer than the SDAC-B I used to own, and reasonable assumption that it’s at least on par with the Topping (while being cheaper than both). I don’t know how audio quality will compare vs a Modius or Scrlet Solo, but it does still remain half the price.

Vs ESS Modius gonna be real interesting imo, since they’re both going to be ES9028 based units, but the input card gets to draw power off nice chunky linear transformers vs dipping into 5v of usb bus power.

are you satisfied with the synergy of J2 and Ananda? I’m afraid of sibilants, lack of body and lean bass

EQ from Oratory gave my Ananda thicker vocals and better bass but made the soundstage a little narrow which I don’t really mind. Synergy is pretty good IMO.

Can you hear sibilants without EQ, I tried JDS Element II but it doesn’t sound good, too sharp. I am considering J2 or Asgard 3 but without EQ
