šŸ”· Schiit Jotunheim 2

Ah, let me clarify, since Iā€™m re-reading what I wrote and I definitely misspoke:

The BF2 and Jot2 are only connected via XLR, but I can hear from the 1/4"/SE jack when I select the balanced input.

Yes you would. The input is XLR. The output can be SE or balanced. It is not a straight line. You can put SE in and choose balanced out.

Got it. I just always associated SE with ā€œunbalancedā€ and didnā€™t think it worked on the balanced/XLR circuit.

As far as I know, input and output are unrelated.

haha, yes, this is correct! Any input can signal any output.

I have input XLR BF2 ā†’ Jot2; output RCA ā†’ Power Monitor playing right now.

(Nice looking silver stack, btw)

lol thank you! Iā€™m most proud of my dry-erase marker ā€œdotā€ on the Jot pot - took me forever to get that right so I could see it

What a knob head XD
No but seriously it looks nice the quantity of the knob was the main reason I did go with a silver Asgard ^^

Was it pretty difficult to change out the knob on the Jot2?

Not at all. Has a hex 1/16 hex screw. Loosen that up and jsut comes out easily.

Hi Just want to share an experience with my jot 2 setup. Ive had the Jot 2 for 3 months now. And tried to get the sound i like from it. And now im finally satisfied.
My setup:
Jot 2 with 4490 g2 internal dac
Pc connected via usb 32bit 48000hz
Supra High Speed usb cable
Audioquest Jitterbug
All kinds of sennheiser and beyer headsets
Hifiman Sundara 2020 rev

And what i have discovered on my journey:
Jot 2 with Sundaras is ok stock But with the Supra usb cable in series with the Jitterbug, the fatigue and dynamics are where it should be. In My subjective opinion. Tried a lot of equipment through 2021. Some of Toppings Flagships A90 D90 Violectric v 280 Burson 3xp JDS labs amp/dac 2 And landed on this combo, with great satisfaction. Should be mentioned that i like a little intimate soundstage with great dynamics. And finally ive found something that i can be satisfied with for a while.
Didn`t have much faith in the Jitterbug to be honest. But with a lot of testing, i feel that the fatigue is almost reduced to nothing with this in the chain. Really dont like too much crazy details. Care about how the music makes me feel
Just wanted to share this experience, and maybe someone else could verify the same

Hi
A little late answer. But my Jot 2 on low gain on sundaras is about 11 o\clock
Mybe 12 on som quiet music

Is the Jot 2 an upgrade over an a30pro? Would be running it off an smsl su8s.

Does the Jot 2 do well running iems?

Canā€™t comment much on the a30pro since i havenā€™t heard one, but Iā€™d imagine theyā€™re comparable.

As for IEMs, Jot 2 is a no go. Every IEM Iā€™ve tried on it hisses on the single ended output. Supposedly the balanced output on it is quieter, but honestly who runs IEMs off of a 4 pin XLR lol.

Itā€™s not quite that black and white. My Kinera Nanna 1.0 are fine on the SE out. But I do overall agree that it really isnā€™t a good amp for IEMs.

Iā€™ve even heard reports of CA IEMs hissing out of the XLR, even though Jason is explicitly on record saying it shouldnā€™t :man_shrugging:

Hello! Currently i own Jotunheim 2 with multibit card, and my question is how big jump in resolution from coming to bifrost 2. I own mojo 2 too, previously i thought i would use mojo 2 as a dac into jot 2, but to my taste it is not good synergy, i prefer mojo 2 as a dac for smsl sp 200 amplifier, and prefer to use jot 2 with internal multibit card because of synergy, but i want more resolution from itā€¦
Currently thinking about next step, try another amp, for example archel 3 pro(a little bit difficult because im in europe) for mojo 2,or better to order bifrost 2 for jot 2?
Could you please provide some advice, thank you.
Or maybe sold jot 2, mojo 2, and get hugo 2 instead?

I have the jot2+Bifrost2/64 combo. The 2/64 has a lot of detail and meshes well with the punchiness of the jot2. I have not heard the multibit card, but most reviews/forums favor using external Schiit DACā€™s. The jot2+Bifrost2/64 will be brighter.

Not sure of your budget, but for less than the Hugo you could get the bifrost2/64 and the mjolnir2. The mjolnir2 seems to be a big step up from the jot2, itā€™s also over twice the price.

Both of the new Hifiman DAC/amp combos (Serenade, Prelude) would be at or under the price of the Hugo 2. The Hifiman himalaya pro DAC would probably mesh well with the jot2 too.
Seems to be comparable to the Bifrost 2/64
