Fun case of upgraditis- For the last few years I’ve been running a Schiit Asgard 3 + Modi 3E and Sundaras. I’m looking to not only switch it up with LCD-X, I was also interested in changing the DAC as well seeing as I meant for the 3E to act as an intermediary until I either got my hands on one of the addon cards for the Asgard 3, or a much nicer standalone DAC to compliment it instead. Which brings me to the comparison. In the opinion of other enthusiasts, which would compliment the Asgard 3 better, the Mesh DAC card, its much larger sibling, Mimir, or the Bifrost 2?

When in doubt always default to dedicated devices. Add on cards may be pretty good, better than good enough even, but a dedicated device built to the purpose will almost always outperform the convenience add on.
