Gotta be honest, anyone else think these are good for music of any genre? They seem the exact opposite of musical at least from the times I tried them.

I think trying to find an HD600 to pair with the BHC would be a nice combo and save you quite a bit of money. I own the 800S and I personally like them, but the 600 really come alive on tubes. They won’t have the soundstage of the 800/800S, but they sound like they should cost twice the price
Give the 600s a try on a solid state amp before the tubes if you have the ability. You’ll be amazed to hear the change
that should do the trick. It’s just a different headphone with tubes, but may not be immediately evident if you only hear them that way
