Shortbus Audio Anomaly (and more possibly)

This really shows how tiny the components really are. One can only appreciate the extra mile you’re going to get it exactly like you feel it needs to be :+1:

Yeah iem/bud parts are TINY AF. Its horrible to work with BAs especially, they are small and lightweight enough that if you accidentally breath too hard or sneeze, they will fly away and dissapear lol.

after shellacing this should look pretty pro

Seeing them like this made me realise just now how you actually made a lot of alterations to the previous design in such a short period of time (since about April right?). That is impressive.

Yeah im at around 300 revisions since the beginning… also I had to learn Autocad Fusion 360 which was a bear.

Have you checked for springs at Digi-Key and Mouser?

I already got all the specific ones I needed. They are 4mm x 5.5mm, 6mm tall with a 0.3mm wire diameter. Perfect. Thanks though!

Btw looks like Tanchjim is doing something like that (Tanchjim Force)?

Very similar. my design had the tube venting into a sealed chamber rather than just a vent. Still I dont want a flat midshelf. It displeases me so I went the entirely opposite direction. Earbud in an IEM. No air seal anywhere.

2nd dude got the iems to try… reported they are so wild in stage he gets sick… can’t listen for long. Yikes… I don’t really know how to take this.

That is indeed wild. I had to think of some sort of sound induced vertigo due to the presentation/staging being extremely realistic but that’s pure speculation of course. As long as it’s an outlier it’s not a problem I would say (extreme version of experiencing sibilance in way).

Perhaps there’s a bit too much sound appearing to come from behind the head…many brains aren’t used to this in music

Not gonna lie, a physiological response is pretty impressive from an IEM. Could be they have an issue with either their ears or something like motion sickness which makes them an outlier. It also makes me think of when VR headsets first started being real popular, some people take to them immediately and others feel like they’re going to fall over and can’t get used to it.

Yeah that is a pretty extreme reponse and not what I was expecting at all. FWIW It doesn’t make me sick or even close and i’ve run miles with them!

Also someone was convinced that one IEM is out of phase with the other except when I did the demo, I used only one iem left in the coupler and just swapped known good (Mystic 8 letshuoer) cable. Reason being it is easy to not insert both IEMs in the coupler the same and get a small difference.

I was born totally deaf in my right ear. I listen to stereo mixed to mono. It would be interesting to see if I could hear some sort of extra shimmer to music.

Ah, shame its not the Right side you use. I have a lonely kiwi ears Punch (Right side only) I could have given you! I gave the whole story over on hbbs thread a while ago

That would have been a super cool happy end to your Punch story

Perhaps you can wear it upside down on the other ear?

Oh yes, I avoid the Right.
