I’d say that, for me, is right on the money. The Enigma sounds effortless in its presentation. There is nothing that stands out, grabs your attention; details just pop up whenever they’re there and then face away. It’s actually quite remarkable, so my calling it a letdown might sound weird. It’s just that price tag combined with the expectations. If they’d priced it around $ 1500, it would have been different.
Yeah for sure. I recently bought the Mystic 8 and that IEM has pure magic in the treble, it shimmers and twinkles like very few IEMs, so for the 1000 bux, I feel like I have a nice unique IEM that I can fart sniff my music with. I’d probably be upset if a 3000+ dollar IEM didn’t have some kind of magic X factor somewhere.
That one is on my ‘try’ list (also thanks to your review). Also really like the utilitarian cable it comes with.
I adore that cable! Something I can actually use for a change. The m8 fit is the best as well, stage is extremely impressive, do try it!
Am going to at this year’s CanJam London!
They’re great at what they do for sure, funny thing for me that for my tastes they are the finest fine iems I’ve ever heard. Reminded me of KZ Zenith, especially since those left me with the same feelings of fine, so STORM is like the evolved form and pinnacle of fine lol
Are you saying you bought the M8s?
? I was talking about STORM how did M8 come up? ![]()
Edit: I can’t read haha.
Nah I was asking Dave. Storm is 7200 dollars. Im not buying it, just renting.
Ah lol nevermind then @shortbus ![]()
Edit: fuck lol
Storm is in my top 5 iems of all time, where exactly it lands I can’t say since its been one day. I can answer any questions about it though.
I guess I should talk about the elephant in the room.. which is my own IEM vs the BEST IEM IN THE WORLD ™
I wont be nice, so here are my impressions so far.
Storm can be considered a very refined Anomaly, or vice versa, Anomaly could be considered a DD version of Storm as wild as that sounds. No the FR isnt the exact same but they share very similar X factor and mojo.
Anomaly does in fact beat storm in openness and 3D and this doesnt really surprise me since it was the entire point of this project.
Storm however beats it in, Subbass, easily, super nice BA bass. I can’t tune 1 driver like 7, so.. but mids are a wash imo. Both are beefy and mids are not sucked out. I like both similarly. Treble goes to storm which is probably no surprise, but Anomaly still pulls some nice punches. I think Storm has a little bit extra extra above 10k, while Anomaly is only a little extra. Storm has a stronger bite on upper notes while Anomaly is more relaxed.
Anomaly X factor is in the stage openness and the natural flow of the sound. Storm is VERY similar but pulls the extremes in better, so upper treble and low subs.
Does anomaly compete? Id say yes, but I am the one that created it. If you asked me Storm vs the Mystic 8, I would say storm is more natural while M8 is more super natural, more shimmery twinkly, while storm is more grounded in a Studio Monitor type of sound with a good ‘bite’ to the treble notes.
Storm also an almost DD like compression thing going on, i havent heard in any other non DD sets. Very interesting, and I LOVE IT! Reminds me of a big sound system at the limits of what it can do.
Here’s hoping that I won’t find Anomaly in the end as boringly fine in tonality as I did STORM ![]()
Sure dave, sure.
I know, I’m a strange man. ![]()
Speaking of tonality, I’ve got new tuning papers/dampers in for my V1 Dark Magician I’m curious what you would use to take the grill off the nozzle without wrecking the grill too bad @shortbus ?
For real? I already have metal tweezers like those but I didn’t trust them to do the job
Yes, they do it good, if yours is old and abused enough that the tip is not sharp anymore then i would get a new one though.
