‘TT Review Bass- Very clean and textured bass, tucked appropriately at 250hz, while also maintaining the body of instruments and having strong thump when it’s in the track. Expect authoritative bass when necessary but one that gets out of the way and lets the other instruments shine. Mids- Natural mids with a low pinna gain that keeps vocal poison away and let’s you listen deep into the track. A tastefully restrained boost in 4k-6k that helps balance the bass when it’s there and gives you an extra bit of ear candy when it’s not. In my opinion does great with both male and female vocals. Treble- Smooth as butter and natural, let’s the IEM scale to the moon and back volume wise. Comparison- The only comparison which makes sense in my opinion is with my favorite IEM: the HBB Jupiter. The Jupiter has more bass and a lower pinna gain compared to TT, but the tuning philosphy is similar. This leads to Jupiter occasionally coming across bass forward in a way that feels more like a raucus small venue compared to the fun studio presentation of TT. While I do love the Jupiter’s presentation the TT is the more versatile of the two while keeping the fun very much around. Final Thoughts- If it hasn’t been made clear TT, in my opinion, is not only the best argument for an iem that does it all but one that I would gladly have as my only iem, and is only the 2nd iem that I would rank a 9/10. This means it reaches audio quality levels comparable to my own home audio system.’

I think you might be onto something there with the word thunder as part of the name for this set. Thunder Cloud, Thunderstruck, Thunder Head… lots of good combos can be had here.

PU surround + LCP diaphragm. I’ve been tuning with those the entire time.
The ones im currently rocking in my ear holes are CNT surround + LCP diaphragm. They are pure sex. Unreal stuff.
Sometimes the best things really are born from coincidences (or perhaps in this case mishaps on part of the seller / manufacturer).
So the CNT ones basically made project Twinkle Toes (to call it that for now) go from great to even greater? Unreal the difference in materials used makes.
To clarify the ones out on demo right now are the CNT correct?
The key here is CNT surround which is much much stiffer than PU. The bass thus is tighter, more defined and less energy overall. It also causes the driver to pump the highs to greater.. heights.
Before this I had no real idea the overall character these materials lent to a driver. I could not possibly be having more fun or geeking out than right now.
People tend to name these materials with no idea what they mean. I was one of those people. Now I am not.
No, they are 8 months old and are PU+LCP and have the biggest badassest bass north of your mom.

From my tests the drivers with PU tends to be the worst sounding to me.
LCP the most distinct/unique.
The surround is the ‘compliance’ which means it can be more flexible than the main diaphragm that is bonded via heat. You can apparently mix and match.
@RockinDave you have to give me more time, it’s been days since I got all these drivers and fleshing out the best of each one takes a bit. Having said that, I think for you PU+LCP might be the ticket where people with different libraries that are not bass focused might like CNT+LCP. These are just guesses based on my very small testing so far.
I would say that people that think all DDs sound the same are full of shit and stupid. I would also say that people that say one type is clearly better than another are lacking plenty of nuance.
I absolutely adore these LCP diaphragms and Im willing to try any kind of surround. From testing Ceramic coated whatever (maybe PEEK), that sounds worse. The diaphragm clearly has more mass and can’t extend as well in the ultra-highs.
Most of my rikubuds have pet either alone or in composite with titanium, lcp or beryllium.
