Shortbus IEMs and more! (part 2)

The other thread was way way too complicated and long. Here is a new one.

I will send all my tunings and IEMs to this thread from now on.

Shortbus TRAVERSE! It traverses music like a sherpa ™

Trying to illustrate how Traverse is tuned, this last image is correct. A buffer behind the DD in space and air volume leading to a long 5.4cm transmission line vent. You can look at the graph to see how this works.

Please comment and go nuts. Much love to anyone that cares and posts!

This is the one you described as the more balanced one IIRC right (as opposed to Heavy Boots)? Still somewhat on the fence concerning which one would suit me better but I feel Traverse is the one because I don’t think you’d ever put out an IEM that’s bass anaemic.

I’m sorry I am too many months behind in the old thread (last thing I’ve read is from June) so hopefully a quick question not too pesky to answer even if it’s come up - will it be possible to buy the IEMs on their own, no cable/pelikan case/tips?

I think a no cable option is on the table but the tips will be included because he tuned them with the SpinFits.

I suppose, but the case also for shipping so nothing happens. And yeah the tips are literally part of the tuning.

Looking slick, cool to finally see the project materialize. I fell behind on updates, so I’m behind the curve. The new FR looks great, super smooth.

Watch out Dom, before you know it, you’ll be adding to your collection

Depending on the cost, I’d be honored to own a piece from M. Bruce himself, no doubt!

Last figure I remember from the previous thread (or one of his vids) was roundabout $850 (ish).

Ah… then I guess I’m not someone who needs to be asking about reducing add on costs either way. I’ll enjoy hearing people’s impressions though.

Totally justified cost, but a bit too rich for my blood at the moment.

I wish nothing but success and wealth for M. Bruce tho!

As far as 850ish, this is correct, The price will drop about 80 bux with no cable fwiw. I am truely sorry it had to be this much, but as it goes.. everything is extremely expensive here in the USA right now, I actually wanted to do around 1150 but I dont think that is a good idea, people are hurting.

Suffice to say, I think that this set should play around the TOTL DDs that exist in the hobby which are more expensive generally.

Also: some folks were asking me wtf the tuning is like, ie, W shaped, V shaped, U shaped, etc. When you ask this kind of question you need to do compensation so it lands similar to this:

Barely a W perhaps? Thats gotta be the closest.

I gotta say this directly: There are ZERO iems on the market with this graph and the bass being handled by an 11mm tesla super strength magnet. Is that worth something? I think so.

Don’t apologize, there’s nothing to apologize for.

it’s your creation and like I said, I think it’s a totally justified cost considering how much time you put into it, not even mentioning the materials and lost units from the R&D process.

I’m still wishing I could have kept the costs lower but thanks dom. I’m roughly into this about 24k without accounting for my time. A little brutal but I remain positive.

Something that has been on my mind is why does this iem sound so so much thicker and bassy than the graph shows. All I got is its an 11mm driver with big ass magnets. Decided to ask the dreaded AI just to see, because googling this is driving me fucking nuts. It came back with this

I told the fucking AI not to blow smoke up my ass and just give me the data and then told it to be in Hal 9000 mode since that is a good ass robot.

Brother, that is an absolutely insane amount of money. I genuinely cannot even begin to imagine putting that much money into a passion project, hoping it turns out how you want and hoping that others will receive it well

I genuinely hope for nothing but success for you, brother, seriously

Dude, the truth is this isn’t a passion project at all, im building a company slowly. My main profession is being murdered by AI crap, companies that want to control data and general industry shifting to big business vs small guys that just fix and support local people. I have less than 10 years likely. I sniffed this out a while back and trends show what will happen if you pay attention. It sucks, but im already starting my life over at age 50, might as well be the full bitch.

I agree with Dom. Developing products isn’t cheap and quality has its price.

I really believe companies will come to regret that shift to AI, if they haven’t already, but that won’t do anyone any good right now (unfortunately).

It’s never too late to hit the ol’ reset button, my friend. You have the best corner people behind you anyways. Here’s to the death of AI :clinking_beer_mugs:
