Should i buy a $500 IEM as my first IEM?

I’m tired of analytical detailed sound. Now I just wan to have fun from the chifi business :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

That’s called a Z1R

UPDATE :
I just Bought Ikko OH1 (meteor?)
Just received few hours ago, and i don’t know why I’m very satisfied with it :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes: the price tag around 180usd.

I’m just asking my friend, i want the solid mid bass without sacrificing detail too much and I’m surprised with this Meteor

Off course, if i compare to my Variations, technicalities, instrument separation, micro details, sound stage (which is Variations is average for the sound stage), especially when you go for lossless music, flac, etc… Variations is absolute winner.

BUT…
This is what I’m looking for, daily driven IEM which is fullfill my taste and music preference. I’m happy , and very fun to hear without any regret or feel too much losing from my Variations.

I hope it helps for this thread :v:

It is a warm slightly v shaped tuning from graphs. Great sub bass

Oh, the stock cable from ikko OH1 is crap. So, I pair it with cable from moondrop bort 4.4mm bal, everything just get more open and better. Use azla xelastec eartips, the stock eartips is good though. But more clear and get little bit weight from xelastec tips

The IEM everyone should have - Blon BL03

My favorite IEM around $100 - Fiio FH3

Best Starter IEM - LZ A7. Find your preferred tuning.

TIER1 Best IEMs around $300 - Mangird Tea, Moondrop Blessing 2, TANCHJIM Oxygen

TIER2 Best IEMs around $500 - $700 - Safe tuned - Thieaudio Clairvoyance/Oracle, Xenns Up - Subbass tuned - Thieaudio Monarch, Moondrop Variations

TIER3 Endgame - Unique Melody MEST MKII - Authentic audiophile replay at it’s finest.

I am glad you are enjoying it. I tend to save my more expensive IEMs for when I am in a controlled environment. Also I usually like to go for a slightly rougher tuned IEM out and about to help with countering background frequencies (like traffic)

FH7 was supposed to have great vocals, but it’s a few years old at this point

I really enjoyed the FH7…

…but abandoned it when the Mangird Tea arrived. The FH7 was great at imaging and seperation, but I generally think the Mangird Tea did everything the FH7 did only better.

Still need to find someone that dislike the Teas, lol. Sure, some people might prefer some other IEMs to it in the same bracket, but hating it? doubt it.

I think it’s because the Tea doesn’t mess anything up. It’s tuned to have a large emphasis on midrange clarity (who doesn’t like that?) but with a little sub bass boost for a little fun but very tastefully done. I also think Mangird/Xenns tuned the Tea to be on the edge of what BA treble can do but without the harshness of when it is pushed slightly past the threshold of where the Tea is at.

What you end up with is an incredibly competent IEM that overall is tuned to take advantage of all the hardware elements that make it up yet not push anything too far that might show the weaknesses of the drivers. For a hybrid IEM with a DD and BA’s, it’s hard to beat.

I think you have to go to an all DD or tribrid/quadbrid design to technically improve past it. Sure, personal preference is always at play, (I want more bass, more treble etc) but every IEM that is not tunable with switches or nozzles is locked in its tuning and will be personally subjective.

Ok, we need a second opinion on this list :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Keep in mind Timmy is a vocal head, and his definition for “Under $500” is pretty fluid, more like “About $500.”

Spoiler: no Teas on this list hehe

Teas are on the 1k bracket.

There is no Tea, because this person does not understand music :))). Tea is over $ 500! He said that Oracle is better than Variations, which I doubt!

Checked his channel, and I think the simple explanation is that he doesn’t have the Teas :joy:

Guys, I was trolling. Teas punch up to 500$, tribids are punching above :stuck_out_tongue:

It all depends on libraries, tho. Specially with tribids.

I’m in the same boat, I’m planning to buy my first pair of IEM, first I was planning buy the KATO but seeing reviews I scaled to the price range of 500 USD, I was convinced to buy the variations but for the tonal signature I don’t know if the best idea, I love the Harman tune from my Aeon Noire 2 and I think the best way is the Kato or the Blessings 2 Dusk, I have the money but for be my first pair I think the limit are 350 USD now. I’m looking for a comfort and excellent sound

Dusk is not harman. Try tanchjim oxygen (on sale right now)
