Green River Lakes Wyoming
FujiFilm X-H1 - 55-200mm OIS
Sagittarius-region of our Milky Way. Shot on slide film circa '95. 50mm piggyback on Meade clock drive. ~90 mins exposure. Imaging notes from those days are no where to be found so this is all my best recollection
I don’t remember what I used for this one. Probably an old digital camera ~2000
Damn, man, these are very good. What amazing equipment you have. I also really like your artistic expression. ![]()
Thanks, I’m glad you like it! ![]()
Always been fascinated by fly agaric but this year its different and even more intense, seems like the mushroom hold some wisdom for me to discover ![]()
Sony Alpha 7III and Sony 90mm macro lens by the way, for those who care
I’m not sure which is more impressive, the camera or the lens. great stuff.
Here’s a few shot of one of my favorite birds, the Belted Kingfisher…
These are sequential shots of this beautiful young female yelling and fussin’ with her mate who’s sitting it the tree directly above her…They were whipping around all over the conservation area that day and I made it a point to track them down…
I shot this with the camera set to Spot Metering and specifically exposed for the bird and over exposed ( blew out) the water background resulting in a studio portrait type of look… Kind of a high - key style of shot…
I really love Kingfishers ,they’re one of my favorite birds… Perhaps it’s because they remind me of the way my hair looked during my early 80’s punk rock phase…. The UK and Europe has some beautiful colorful Kingfishers..
Note the protective eyelid inner eyelid partially covering her lovelydark black eyes in the last lower photo…They do that for protection especially when hitting the water like a missile when fishing…
I’ve learned that they prefer to set up at the end of a perch instead of midway on the branch… Likely because these platforms hang over the water much like the end of a diving board…
Shot with a Canon R5 and the Canon RF 200-800 mm. lens….
Spot the Juvenile Black Crowned Night Herron…
This shot gives me Jurassic Park vibes… ![]()
And the original shot…
Yeah, pretty harsh midday sun for this one…I could have screwed on my 95mm. Circular Polerizing Filter which tones down the harshness and makes the colors pop… If I had it handy… But I left it back at my car…
Here’s a sequence ( * unfortunately, I downloaded it backwards) of a slightly backlit Great Egret photographed in the morning… You can see how the sun reveals the bones inside it’s translucent wings… Very graceful, yet powerful flyers…
The top 2 photos show the Egret in it’s cruising body position with his long neck coiled tightly to his body likely to reduce windage on the long neck , and likely re distribute its center of gravity…
I love the way their legs trail straight out the back once they get moving fast…
Great stuff. Thank you for sharing.
Thank Raptor… Love the outdoors, hiking, fresh air and most importantly the critters…
I’ve taken hundreds of Bird In Flight pictures of Turkey Vultures because they’re so abundant here, but I rarely see them perched anywhere or standing still except when they’re chowing down on road kill at the side of the road…
What I find amazing is how disproportionately sized their heads are in relation to their massive bodies…
Here’s a couple of perched shots and a close up of that tiny freakish head…
This little Saw Whet Owl is only 6"-8" in height… I call him the baby Yoda Owl…
Beautiful little creatures
These were taken at one of the five different conservation areas I visited one day last week…
I hung around at the last park to capture the last of a flock of Canadian Geese and a flock of Starlings heading to their roosing locations for the evening…
It was a great 9 hr. long winter bird / wildlife photography day for me to end 2025…
le wow! what kind of bats are these? how big are they?
