Have you heard Heart Mirror? I would be curious as to how they compare since they have similar fr but EA500 has more bass?

Had the Heartmirror before - off memory the low-end was very light and not close to the EA500.

That’s what I figured from the graph, the EA500 is a bassier HM
Thanks

I would actually call the SGOR Venus a ā€œbassier (but also less forward in the upper-mids) Heart Mirrorā€:

That looks too different and also that bass doesn’t look very clean.

I mean, you know I’m about that midbass, so I don’t think any of us are shocked I’d pick it out over a sub-bass focused set

Nice combo :notes:

Just got them in the mail today. Early first impressions are yeahhh they are good. Very much enjoying the music these produce right now.:notes:

Yep. Extremely competent driver. Handles EQ like a champ and gives sub-bass plenty of rumble. Would recommend giving this profile a shot. Adds sub-bass rumble, pulls back mids a tad and tames the sibilance :ok_hand::+1:

15% off, yeah ok fuck it I’m in

Ok last post from me here sorry for the spam but yeah I’m genuinely confused… Confused how the resolution and extension of this IEM is so good for a cheap-ish single DD.

I’m throwing all my gym death metal songs at it and it’s keeping up with the Heyday planar IEM :exploding_head:
Maybe they snuck a couple BAs in here…

This is the place to let it all out. They put a fan-freakingtastic driver into this IEM. This is why I lost interest in the budget under-$50 sets and have been so adamant about it. It’s tuned no better than those cheaper sets, tuning has really been impressive in 2022/23.

But not a single one of those sets matches the technicalities the EA500 can pop out. IMO it doesn’t beat Dark Magician as a 1DD but it gives DM a fucking run for it’s money, (DM’s tuning is different and special, lets be clear). I’m not saying EA500 is a mini-DM, I’m saying head-to-head DM is only JUST slightly better. Full-stop.

Any price under $70 you can get EA500, it’s THE set to buy. Period

I absolutely agree about the DMs being only slightly better. I haven’t done a direct A/B between them, but I can tell you that the DMs have wider and more holographic stage and better vocal texture (only by about 5-10% if I’m being honest) but I actually can prefer the bass from the EA500. There’s just a little more thump. Surprisingly, they’re not redundant of one another.

A good and a bad thing - if you’re looking for a baby DM, this isn’t it, but it’s damn close.

I’m going to keep pushing back on that baby-DM narrative. It’s NOT doing what DM does. Panda and KBear Ormosia are two sets that are way closer to actually replicating what DM is going for. EA500 has way more upper-midrange and treble energy to really be a DM-alternative.

What EA500 does have is the best balance of musicality and analytical technicalities of any harman-neutral style tuned IEM I’ve heard.

P5 vs. EA500 is an interesting situation: They are VERY closely matched in tuning; P5 is a more sub-bass focused set and EA500 is more mid-bass focused. Besides that it’s mostly a wash in tuning, either is fine enough. But P5 is missing some of that soul and musicality. Like I’ve said before if I wanted an accurate monitor, P5 is a beast.

If I want to actually feel feelings while I listen to music, I’d grab EA500 10/10.

I don’t know if anyone could compare the EA500 to Olina OG/SE?
Olina OG is my reference set for quite a long time now, so having those 2 compared could help me imagine what the EA500 brings.

I’m not sure: did Akros do the comparison in his vid?

And what if you EQ one to the other ? :smirk:
