Friends, today is Sinko De Mayo. I know this is off topic of audio but i truly believe we should stop and consider this great day of celebration. Especially since it contains one of my favorite things in the world.
Few people have come to know the “true” story of the origin of Sinko de Mayo. It is my pleasure to set the record straight.
A little known fact is that back in 1912, Hellmann’s mayonnaise was manufactured in England. In fact, the Titanic was carrying 12,000 jars of the condiment scheduled for delivery in Vera Cruz, Mexico, which was to be the next port of call for the great ship after its stop in New York. This would have been the largest single shipment of mayonnaise ever delivered to Mexico. But as we know, the great ship did not make it.
The ship hit an iceberg and sank and the cargo was forever lost. The people of Mexico, who were crazy about mayonnaise and were eagerly awaiting its delivery, were disconsolate at the loss. Their anguish was so great that they declared a National Day of Mourning, which they still observe to this day.
The National Day of Mourning occurs each year on May 5 and is known, of course, as Sinko de Mayo.

Couldn’t this just be in Funny thread?
potato patata.
You can add Hellmans can and titanic if it suit’s you better?
In the funny picture thread. There are links to other funny pages and youtube / other clips.
Piece of text / joke probably is ok… like others comments that are there… also.
Yeah but the aim is to fool the audience until the final reveal. if its in “funny pictures” it reduces the reaction.

Except it ain’t even funny if you know more than the joke.
Mr. Hellmann in 1903 emigrated to to New York City. Guess where he did the maoy… in US, NY.
(did some mayo research long time ago. did know it was from us, checked the date’s. damm good mayo, have to say)
So getting back to Titanic. The damm ship never made to US at the first place. It left from Southampton (UK) to New York City.
(movies, common knowledge)
Cinco de Mayo, was related some battle thing in mexico.
(popped up in some war history).
E: checked, it was a battle. In 1862 )
So it kinda was shit from the start.
Specially when you typed “one of my favorite things in the world.”.
That makes it even more funny. Like a joke, should be.

Lol you really went deep with this one. It’s a joke. 99% of the people here don’t care where the mayo actually came from. We read it as a joke and went on our way. Give the guy a break haha.

“Did i say Hellmans? I meant Heinz. Sorry”
Well… Heinz is even more American than Hellmans. It was born there, not emigrated.
I like how the plot get’s thick. lol
I’m hoping it will have Napoleon in it.
Actually it is a little known fact that Napoleon a was fanatic for mayo and always ate mayo with his sandwiches and steaks.
And yes Heinz is an American brand but they had a thriving export business with England and countries all over Europe. In fact, it was during a European trip that Heinz was inspired with the recipe for his famous and much loved Ketchup. Many people believe his label for this condiment was a comment on what happened during the Titanic catastrophe, and how he felt it could have been avoided.

Most mayonnaise’s are too ‘eggy’ for me. I prefer olive oil mayonnaise.
Even better, Follow Your Heart Grapeseed veginaise.

Actually most mayonnaise are made from very few real egg. most of the recipe encompasses vegetable oil
I’m aware, the olive oil mayo’s seem to mask the egg flavor enough for me.
