I asked about how the whole process is going a couple days ago - Ms. Rita told me that they are working hard but not very quickly. At the time I asked it was National Day holiday, so she wasnāt in office and couldnāt answer when we can expect them. She told me that she hopes that she can tell me an estimated date tomorrow - so I really hope I can share that
I donāt think fit will be a problem, my head size is normal (or at least I was never bullied by it haha), and if pads can be changed, so be it, already Iām saving on the amp with these anyway
Welcome to the forum! Nice video. Enjoyed it.
thanks a lot!
Ok. An update with the P-II pads. Itās more comfortable certainly, but I donāt like them. The Phoenix soundsā¦ off. Like the bass gets recessed for one (which is fine I guess) and it sounds wider, but something about the imaging and intimate sound of the Phoenix just dies. I canāt quite describe it. Maybe itās the timbre? The treble spikes a bit more, the midrange is a little elevated.
Like in theory, I should be 100% okay with better comfort, more soundstage, lower bass, and higher midrange, but for some reason I just canāt. I put the stock pads back on the adapter plate (using tape lol) and I immediately fell back in love with the sound.
TLDR New pads from Sivga plz
P.S. On amazon and AliExpress itās on a slight discount
Jeezā¦ just saw the new review over at Head-Fiā¦ Iām uneasy from reading that bs. The āreviewersā are doing more poetry than poets nowadays.
Have a read yourself, by far the most misleading review of the Phoenix: https://www.head-fi.org/showcase/sivga-phoenix-wooden-flagship-dynamic-driver-headphone.24548/reviews#item-review-24526
The effort put into this is non existentā¦ damn
What do yāall think?
I think his opinion is fine. I get the feeling English isnāt his first language so being thoroughly detailed isnāt exactly possible for him.
Now wait until DMS comes around and trashes this headphone based on these measurements that arenāt even close to accurate:
Sivgaās:
Like wtf is going on in the mids and treble?
His first language is definitely not English, but the way he wrote the review doesnāt make any sense. Literally saying that the Phoenix āwants toā have a strong punch - which means that it doesnāt have fast impact or punch, but then he said the opposite, that he thinks itās fast and accurate. Doesnāt make sense, but alright.
In terms of DMS, we are kind of used to that. Whatever he is using to measure his cans, eh is obviously not using his ears - he is rather reading his own freq response and forming his opinion based off of that.
Ehhā¦ nope. Sivga didnāt get back to me on Monday. If they donāt say anything by the end of the week, Iām sending another message next Monday.
But damn, already a new headphone. These guys are on steroids hahahaha
Haha gotcha.
Honestly between the Phoenix, Sundara, DT880-600, MrSpeakers Open Alphas and T60 Argons, Iāll be pretty happy with graduating from what I consider Mid-fi. Iāll go to āHi-Fiā in some years probably.
My HD650 are collecting dust (but Iām building the Bottlehead Crack for them soon).
Phoenix on EDM sounds fucking incredible btw.
Can confirm
Can confirm x2
I think it would be particularly enjoyable for trance music. Didnāt try listening to any trance, but I think the fast bass response would be particularly welcome in that genre
Trance works. Itās my second favorite EMD genre after Future Garage.
Been looking at these since Zeos posted his early review - when I originally went to order they were sold out on Amazon. I then decided to pick up a subwoofer for my desktop speaker setup instead and sort of put these on the back burner. But the enthusiasm in this thread is catchy, soā¦
Not to rain on the parade but I returned these pretty quickly. The tuning is spot-on, with punchy bass and lively highs that arenāt too aggressive. Basically theyāre a good upgrade if you like the cheaper Sivgas, especially close to the 006s. Iāve also heard the 005s and 003s, and theyāre all in the same ballpark, but they also have the same flaws. I found that with more complex mixes these tend to give me a confused, almost ācompressedā feeling, like the mids lack speed and just canāt keep the instruments separated. That combined with the fact they barely fit my head at full extension, these were a return for me.
Okayā¦ sooo Sivga got back to me today.
They told me that they are making a video on how to replace the earpadsā¦ Now, I am not quite sure what this means. Does this mean that the new eapads are done and they are making a video on how to put them on? Or does this mean that they gave up on the new pads and just decided to tell us āhow to changeā the stock earpads?
I donāt know and cannot confirm at the moment (about the video), but Iām pretty sure we are all aware how to āchangeā the current earpadsā¦ which is basically ripping off the stock earpads from the plastic insert - and that is not a solution.
I really hope we get them new pads, because I love the Phoenix and I just think that at this price point no other headphone goes head to head with it in terms of bass performance.
Cāmon Sivga, get your sh*t togetherā¦ pleasee
My Sivga Phoenix just arrived today. I havenāt been able to spend much time with them. Even though working from the home office these days the mothership still requires my devotion until 5ā¦
What I did get a chance to do was put them on, and what Iāve learned is that I must have an average to small, head & ears combo. They fit nicely out of the box, only adjusted the sliders to about the middle of the range, all is good and not too tight. I am watching the clock now - canāt wait to switch to the other room and give them a listen.
Bruh. If they were just going to sell the same pads they were already producing why would it take this long for them to sell them separately?
