I’ve got an SMSL SP100 that keeps losing signal in the right channel when it gets moved about. It must be a loose connection or weak solder joint somewhere, but I can’t for the life of me figure out how to get access to its internals. I have managed to remove the back panel, and there is also a really deep screw that I took out toward the front of the unit… however I just can’t get either of the boards to budge at all. Has anyone taken one of those apart that can let me know what I’m missing here? Thanks!
Can you provide some pictures?
Just from the looks, I would guess you remove the tube and the four screws in the back, then slide the screen, knob, etc. out the front.
Hey thanks for the response - I just had another go and I did manage to get it apart. It turns out there is a thin plexiglass panel glued to the front that needs to come off, and there are 4 screws underneath which allowed me to pull the PCBs out the front.
Unfortunately I cracked the front panel slightly as it is very brittle and I am not patient! However it was cold solder joints on the RCA jacks causing my issue, I reflowed all the joints and added some solder… all working well now which is my priority!
It might be possible to slide the PCBs out the back as well by removing the nut from the volume pot mount. However there is also a push fit FFC cable going to the power button, so it would be basically impossible to reassemble it this way… it may have been possible to slide the PCBs back enough to get to the solder joints though.
