SMSL SU8 upgrade ~500$

Hello,

was thinking to upgrade my SMSL SU8. Unfortunately, Denafrips Ares II would be around 1000 with tax and shipping so that is out of the question since I could spend around 500.
What would you rec? I find the SMSL bit bright with Klipsch RP600Ms, using it with a tube buffer. It can also be a DAC/AMP combo if it’s a fine unit, but the DAC part is the most important.

As a DAC/AMP combo this looks interesting used option. Looks so cool :stuck_out_tongue: Bit dated, but still cool :smiley:

I’d just save a little bit more and get the Bifrost 2. Well worth it imo. You’ll be glad you saved and it’ll be a noticeable upgrade from the SU8. You can always look for a used one or schiit B stock.

Unfortunately in Schiit eu store everything has been out of stock for at least 6 months :confused:
