Speaker wire terminals and banana plugs

Hi guys,

What is the best way to connect speaker wire to speakers that dont have binding posts but have the wiring clips that you just press down? Will banana plugs work for this type of terminal or can you only just put the bare cable in or is there another type of plug im unaware of?
Thanks!

I think bare wire is best for spring terminals. Giving the wire a bit of a twist helps to keep it from fraying. If it’s something you may be disconnecting and reconnecting regularly, lightly soldering the stripped ends will keep it from fraying permanently.

What ^^ he said, bareback.

Spring terminals take best to bare copper strands.

Solid copper works, but makes a mediocre connection.

Any sort of connector (spades, 4mm banana, etc.) will likely not work.

banana clips work in spring terminals. you can also use pin connectors.

I’ve had pin connectors break off inside spring terminals. Not fun.

For spring terminals, use bare copper. Banana plugs are really more for convivence. Don’t over think it.
