Here’s my problem and if someone could provide a reason why this is happening, I would greatly appreciate it.
Problem:
I have a singer/guitar player: He’s splitting he’s both splitting of his signals.
He has a device that’s dedicated to his Microphone and running a Helix for his guitar.
He splits the guitar (1 signal to the PA Channel 5 - 1 in 2 out splitter - and the other to his floor monitor).
He splits the Mic (1 signal to the PA Channel 6 - 1 in 2 out splitter- and the other to his floor monitor).
He then combines them back together (with a 2 in 1 out splitter) ONLY for the monitor so he can hear both the guitar and his Mic.
PROBLEM:
I’m getting the combined signals even though I’m using 2 separate channels.
This is a problem because I can’t control the levels. If I increase the guitar level the Mic gets increased and I’m getting the combined signal on both channels.

I have absolutely no experience with live music or monitoring, but if he use passive splits, (like y-splits), the outcome you describe sounds logical to me. The PA would in practical terms see one channel. I would think there have to exist some kind of small active mixer for this purpose, or a PA mixer with this function built in?
A diagram of how this is all connected would help. Specifically when you state the problem of you getting the combined signal. We need to see a path to venture a guess.
