SU-8 + Windows 10 Driver Issue?

My work office setup has an SU-8 V2 connected to a Surface Pro 4 (Win 10 Pro) via USB. I got the SU-8 back in July on their Drop. Since I received it, USB with WIndows 10 drivers has been working flawlessly. Just this morning, audio plays for 2 minutes or so and then cuts out. My music apps (I’ve tried Amazon Music and Audirvana) and Chrome (Youtube videos) do this. The sound-playing apps still keep playing the video or song - at least the counter keeps counting and the video keeps playing - despite audio going silent. Restarting the computer and the SU-8 allows sound to play for ~2mins again and then it mutes. Interestingly, the SU-8 screen will keep displaying the bitrate of whatever was playing, even though no sound comes out. I plugged the SU-8 into my Galaxy Note 8 phone and it plays through USB just fine. I don’t have optical or coax connections in my office to test those, but will take the unit home this weekend to test that. But, since the phone works, I’m leaning toward it being a Windows and/or driver issue. Anyone experienced this before? Alternatively, does anyone have experience with SMSL’s SU-8 driver you can download from their website? How does it do?

I guess you might just want to install the driver then

Just install the xmos driver

Thanks. Do you know if the SMSL drivers are reliable? I ask because Fiio drivers have crashed my systems in previous efforts.

If you install them correctly, in my experience the xmos drivers are fairly reliable

I’ll try it if needed. However, the USB mouse and keyboard I’ve been using are also behaving weirdly this morning as well. For example, the mouse pointer just got locked into the vertical axis and wouldn’t move horizontally. And every once in awhile a keeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeey gets “held down” awhile while typing. So this could be a completely unrelated general USB issue. Fun.

Perhaps a restart might be in order lol
