I am Looking to upgrade my meze 99 neos .
I am Looking at either the sundaras or the modhouse t60 argons to pair with my rme adi-2 dac fs .
Any one with experience with these and how do they sound?
have not tried the sundaras, but i do love my t60 argons. they have punchy tight bass, wide soundstage, decent dynamics. theres a slight recess in some of the upper mids. some male vocals will be slightly recessed. treble can be fatiguing with certain pairings, but isnt bad with most. i found them bright at times on my schiit magni 3. but my lyr3 sprout100 and zen dac are all perfectly fine with 0 fatigue
Ok perfect , the adi-2 dac has an equalizer built in .
So I can tame some of that treble .
Do you think it’s a good deal for a used pair for $400 USD ?
yeah. save the wait and cheaper then ordering.
edit: i got my t60rp’s little over 2 years ago now used for 150$ and pretty much immediately sent them into modhouse. been loving them since
Sundara’s. open back FTW!
So I don’t own either of these headphones, but I know people talk about the Argons being pretty power-hungry, so that might also be a consideration in terms of which headphone you decide to go with.
Coming from Meze 99 you might find the Sundara a bit bass light unless you want an opposite tuning to it. The Sundara is also an open back so you might want to factor that in too.
to me the argons are closer to what the sundara offers to the meze 99 noir. the argons ahve a good amount of bass impact and slam as well as extension which the sundara really doesnt. its has the planar bass though but just lacks the slam that a dynamic bassy headphone has like a meze
Neutral and Fun signature - two different beasts
I loved my Meze 99 Classic’s, but ended up selling them after a few years. Great on the go headphones.
The Sundara’s are a nice headphone. Everything sounds good and nothing was bad. But I never Loved anything on them. Very nice and smooth, but nothing special. Good with the Liquid Platinum.
Just went through a four month wait for T60 Argons. I Love these! They are the most comfortable headphones I own, with the suede earpads. The sound is full and clear, with a nice strong bass. However, they really do need a good amp.
Gotta put in a vote for the Sunny’s.
Absolutely amazing headphones! The open, airy sound and wide soundstage really surprised me coming from a life of closed backs.
