TANCHJIM REVO (TWS)
Musicality over technicalities.
✧ ════ •REVIEW• ════ ✧
「SOUND-SIGNATURE」
It is a well-balanced sound that is fun while retaining its natural timbre.
↓
「BASS /LOW-END」
► Sub-bass leak is quite apparent. It doesn’t hit the deepest and not the atmospheric type either. The essence of rumble and boom is there but it is more heard than felt.
► Mid/upper bass is stronger in presence. It sounds denser and thicker in nature. It gives vocal and instruments a solid fundamental body and note-weight.
► Bass-drop can be heard but it is more on the background. Ghetto bass is bouncy enough, with traceable bass distortion elements.
► Kick-drum still packs a good punch. Meanwhile, drum-strike, slam hard enough for an impactful replay. Bass line guitar sounds more monotonous. The ups and downs of the hums and drone is less discernible.
Bass performance may not be its main priority, but it keeps the low-end sounding relatively engaging without sounding too flat.

「MID-RANGE /VOCAL」
► On default setting, the REVO becomes a mid-centric set. Vocal and instruments that becomes part of this region showcased good intimacy and immersion with its playstyle.
► Vocal and backgrounds elements don’t have the strongest sense of delineation. It is decently separated but the borders between sound bubbles don’t have the clearest of cut.
► Vocal texturing on the smooth size. It prioritizes tonality over transparency. In return, it gives listeners a smooth, natural tone that is truly pleasing to the ears.
► The mid-range possess a natural fundamental note-weight and body. Thinning and hollow effect is not an issue it be it a low or high range. Everything just sounds well-densified.
► Both male and female offer similar level of performance. Both goes for a slightly warmer presentation while retain a good dynamic-range that is wide enough to preserve its emotional delivery. The vocal sustains and decay rate is nigh perfect with adequate vocal extensions, allowing vocal to fully bloom before fading out.
► There is no vocal grain or harshness at far as my ears could tell. It handles shouted vocals well.
► Guitar plays do exhibit its warm tonality without trimming its bite point too much. Piano renders naturally with a clear distinct tap with clear overtones. Meanwhile, violin and cello do come across sounding more laid-back, focusing more on sustain and reverb to the notes.
Overall, it is such musical listen. It is one of those mid-range that is less technical but truly enjoyable to listen that makes you want to sing along.

「TREBLE / HIGHS」
► The treble leans on the dark side but it’s got sufficient reach to highlight the essential elements.
► There is no unwanted resonance coming from the highs. Sibilance control is well managed. It is relatively smooth even on its highest volume. However, it is not completely free from distortion, there is smidge of pixelated sound on certain tracks at louder volume.
► Transparency level isn’t the highest in the game even for its tier. The highs focus on giving the listeners a pleasant, natural tone to cover to upper spectrum.
► Hi-hats plays with natural pitched. Cymbals on the other hand will have a smoother note-edge with darker, less flowy overtones. The pops and cracks on drum snare definition are just alright. E-guitar offers just about enough grunt to make rock & metal sounds alive.
► On low-bitrates, the rate of compression can be heard. Same goes with less masterful tracks, the imperfections didn’t get glossed over completely.
In general, the treble quality is just decent at best. The definition is on the lower side, but it keeps things natural and easy to listen.

✧ ════ • TECHNICAL PERFORMANCE & OTHERS ════ ✧
The STAGE has enough width with a rather tall headroom. As for the depth, it is adequate to not like 2D.
Like most Tanchjim, their IMAGING is solid but with the Revo, it is not the sharpest. But you can expect an accurate placement with it.
INSTRUMENT SEPARATION is just alright. The borders of sound don’t have the clearest of cut. It will struggle a little when trying to give layers to a more complex track.
DETAIL RETRIEVAL may not be its forte, but it fits well within its price-bracket. It possesses sufficient fidelity to not sound low-res.
TONE & TIMBRE is one of its strengths; there is a pleasing sense of naturalness to the way it handles everything.
DYNAMIC-range is quite balance throughout the spectrum. It managed to render micro and macro dynamics well.
BUILD & PACKAGING? It is as basic as it gets. But is very well built. The earpiece and casing using high-quality plastic material with a smooth coating to give it a more premium feel. Aside from that, Tanchjim has provided users with a Type-C usb charging cable.
PRICE? For $35, I couldn’t ask for anything better. It offers decent sound quality and performs consistently well as TWS device.

▲ The strength of the Bluetooth connectivity is highly dependent on your Bluetooth device hardware. I could work-out up to 11~12 meters radius of distance. Above that, the connection becomes unstable. You could stretch it to 14~15 meters on unobstructed environment.

→ CONCLUSION ←
I am quite surprised on how much I like the REVO especially when it comes to tonality. Sonically, it may not be the most technical but in terms of tonal balance, it hits the right spot for me (balance and natural). Hence, I could forgive its shortcomings and just enjoy it as it is. It is reliable, it is comfortable to wear, and enjoyable to listen. I couldn’t ask for anything better for the price.
