I heard they are 32grams, but that they carry their weight well with their length. What was the turnoff with them? Like, was their pain? Did you change eartips? How are they sound wise compared to others.
So what made it uncomfortable to me was because they didn’t go deep enough into my ear canal and had a shallow fit, that meant that the stems put a lot of pressure on my canal. This was somewhat fixed with the ikko planet i tips, but it still wasn’t the most comfortable, but it doesn’t mean this will be the case for everyone.
They are a wider v shape sound, enjoyable bass and treble with a slightly smoother sound, think a higher end blon per se
I think I’d like to see what a decent pair of iems can do as well. I’ve never really owned good iems or any above like 20 bucks. The only expensive ones I own are true wireless ones that obviously sacrifice sound quality for convenience. I’ve been interested in the tins but don’t know much about iems.
That sounds right up my ally. Do you think they also would work well off of a phone or the Bluetooth Fiio I posted? I will obviously use them with my Amp sometimes too. What do you think?
I think it would be just fine with the fiio, not really a demanding iem or anything
My concern would be the bit more recessed mid-range, but it shouldn’t be too much
Anyone have both the KXXS and the OH10, and can describe the major differences and reasons for one over the other.
The kxxs is slightly smoother and warmer sounding, but I would say more neutral, I think the oh10 is more v shaped in comparison with similar detail. I think the oh10 has a bit wider stage. Build wise, I think the cable that comes with the kxxs is better but the oh10 feels a bit higher quality (with not as good of a cable). Amp wise they are similar and both are fairly efficient, so not really a concern. I think if you prefer a bass bump and treble bump with an exciting wider sound, the oh10 is for you. I think if you wanted something more refined and accurate, but still enjoyable but more even, the kxxs would be my pick. Own the oh10 and have heard the kxxs and kanas pro many times
Also hearing the kxxs and starfield side by side, the starfield is legit just the kxxs tbh.
So for you personally since you own IEM’s and I don’t, if we take out the fit not working for you with the OH10’s, which one would be your go to? Out of all of them. Price isn’t an option wise. Whatcha think?
Out of all mentioned on here or just the oh10 and kxxs/starfield? Out of all mentioned in this thread I would most likely end up going for the jvc, as imo it’s the most enjoyable to me and is also the highest preforming imo. For the oh10 vs kxxs, knowing what I like to listen to on the go, I would personally most likely pick the oh10 for more fun. I ended up selling the oh10 recently though because of other iems (but they weren’t in the same price bracket)
Dang, so the JVC would be an upgrade to the OH10’s then, for only $50 more. What are they good at, because I do enjoy my Bass, and I was also happy the OH10’s shine with vocals. What do the JVC’s sound like the most, you can even use any Headphone as reference since I have used a lot of those if they are close to anything there.
Well, I think the jvc have pretty great bass and pretty great midrange, very detailed with great impact and also well extended. It’s pretty dang detailed for the price and the refinement with the other filters is pretty great. The stage and imaging is natural and def not lacking imo. They are just very engaging and natural, pretty impressive for the price. IEM’s aren’t too comparable to headphones, but I would say out of what has been mentioned, with the relaxed filters, I would say these would be closest to your aeolus but a bit more energetic. Just extremely well rounded iems for the price. I think something that might be closer might be a emu teak or x00 ebony actually but idk.
I can compare to other headphones if you want but that’s a bit more difficult lol. Also having the ability to change the filters on the iem to meet your sonic preference somewhat changes things too lol. I am not a fan of the stock filters, but I think the relaxed filters really calm things down and make them overall more refined. Also if you are curious on what I own you can check my profile
Hmm, sounds good, but when you say x00’s I think Bass cannons, as I own a pair as well and love the bass on them. I have been trying to find reviews on the JVC’s but they are scarce compared to the highly praised OH10’s. I always do a ton of research before a buy so this is a struggle currently. Lol
Thanks for the help so far.
Which x00 do you own? I don’t think they have as much bass as the mahogany or the purplehearts, perhaps similar or slightly less than the ebony. The bass also depends on the filter and the tips as well (but I think the stock jvc spiral dots are very nice)
The Ebony X00’s. They rattle my teeth on certain songs.
Gotcha, then I think it would be around similar to slightly less in pure quantity, it’s not going to slam like the ebony, but the bass is very controlled with little bloat into the midrange or anything. I actually might say it would have similar bass quantity to the oh10 but further refined and controlled (higher quality)
I know you stated they are more neutral, but neutral to me has always sounded boring, as nothing sticks out. Do they not excel in anything particular, like more mid-warmth, or bright, vocal clarity?
Gotcha, neutral just means signature to me, not really meaning boring or anything. I think they excel at bass and midrange overall, and also they are fairly clear without being harsh. They are pretty dynamic sounding and not boring from my experience lol. I think they are more enjoyable then a tin t2 imo for sure if that’s any reference. I think those are more neutral bright, but also wider and laid back, not as punchy and dynamic as the jvc (also the jvc have better technicalities and refinement imo)
Gotcha, this is my first IEM that is over $20 that I have bought so just trying to make sure it is the best one for the money. Appreciate it.
you’re really selling me on these lol
Of course, you want to get as much info and perspective as you can. There are a few jvc threads on here
Here are also some reviews that come to mind
