The DEALS thread

the discount code already no longer works unfortunately

Boooo. Hissss.
I was resisting myself.
I don’t need any closed backs and the DCA has a bit too much boom and bloom for my proclivities - but they are nice and enormously comfortable and nicely made. Was hard not to click and try it.

yeah, sucks, was willing to risk shipping/tax to the u.k for an extra 20% off but 2 hours later and the code wasn’t working, really good deal for the maybe 4 people that managed to use the code though

Great sounding TWS

Looks like a good deal on Dunu SA6.

Still the best deal on TinHiFi P1 Max.

couldn’t tell you about the p1 max, but the p1 plus i thought was better than the s12+timeless

The P1 Max graphs seems like a toned down version of both S12 and Timeless

Nothing is overemphasized. About the only thing negative I have heard is the bass isn’t great, but the mids and treble are supposed to be great. Getting those right usually means great resolution.

HBB did a good video on this set, I think planar wars II

I have more profound thoughts, but this is not prime-time to put them to key. I did a bunch of listening awhile back to a number of low-mid HFM planars (and a T50rp thrown in the blend). I do think that the spatial presentation to headphones is important (maybe more-so to me). What is under-mentioned is that the Sundara is a really intensely analytical and ‘in your face’ presentation. It’s very open, very “airy” but the soundstage is simply not that large. It’s significantly more mid-focussed, timbre/tonality is very good in this range. The 560 tuning is not quite as good, but feels technically very capable. They’re very different headphones and it is important that price/driver-style/producer doesn’t make folks equate them as similar. 560 needs some decent power to get going, it does have a notable additional power requirement over Sundara/HE-x4. Vocals is your primary interest, Sundara is the answer. Also likely has class leading treble resolution, including a very dynamic upper-end. Soundstage/Imaging - absolutely not Sundara strengths. 560 brings more low frequency dynamic punch, has that midrange sag common in a lot of HFM that Sundara conquers. Offers a lot of space and technical prowess, has more to gain with EQ too - I think simply adding a bass shelf and a 2k-ish bump is rather helpful (I’m not using EQ a ton lately). The 560 is a much more ‘fun’ headphone, which I think will be important for a lot of folk. If you have a desktop amp, I’d say it is a must-try at $200. It is more comfortable to me than Sundara also.

On the same track, the forgotten Drop-Hifiman HE-X4, often selling at $99 lately, is a nicely-tuned, less technically capable headphone than these peers that is pretty astonishing for its price. It has a better mid-focussed tuning than 560, more sensitive, comfier and better spatial qualities than Sundara. I like Sundara, it is impressive - but it is more niche/specialist than a lot of people describe — and why you see it have limitations with the rare detractor.

That’s a pretty good deal! What’s the difference between v1 and V2?

Seems to be non-sound related upgrades (BT 5.2 vs 5.0, app upgrades, ambient mode, etc…)

The deal sounds even better now

In addition to the updated bluetooth (Stability + dual headset pair instead of primary/secondary pair) as well as the inclusion of an “ok” app and poorly done tech enabled features, the 2.0 has a different tuning with significant bass boost and overall a more classic TWS signature than 1.0 which is tuned more neutrally and has a slightly wider soundstage.

IIRC 2.0 has wireless charging also.

Right now if you live in the USA or other non European countries the Euro has dropped from almost 1.2 per dollar to nearly a 1-to-1 ratio meaning everything on the Kenerton site is 15%-20% off.

Plus, for the next 24 hours, under the win section you can get an additional $560 off on the Rognir making it $2850. Which is nearly $1500 off from the price last month. Which is an insane price for probably the best closed back headphone on the market.

Omg, new MEST MK2 for 999$ - I hope that would bring the 2nd hand prices down by a lot!
