Thank you so much for your response. I will see if i can ask them to convert to 2pin. On an odd chance that they couldnt get 2pin done, what are some of the top of the line balanced cables 4.4mm QDC type upgrades do you suggest I get ? since i did not get the pre-order upgrade cables.
You could also ask Linsoul to clarify the polarity of the QDC version of the Voyager 14 (and report back to the community so we have clarity on the polarity topic). If the polarity is normal for QDC then proceed with whatever QDC cable you want, if it is reversed you could ask a custom cable maker to wire a QDC cable with reversed polarity to correct the issue.
Progdvd has been really pleased with this cable, he commented about it earlier in the thread. It looks like they are made to order with pretty much every connection option available.
The best cable I have personally is a Han Sound Audio ZEN 8ā¦it is literally a piece of artā¦and is fun to OCD fiddle with that cableā¦but since it doesnāt have preformed earloops the extra weight makes it less comfortable for long listening sessionsā¦If I was in the market for a really nice cable I would probably look at the aliexpress link above thoughā¦personally, I find cables to have a pretty minor impact (if any) compared to other components in an audio systemā¦jumping to a 4.4mm mono instead of 3.5mm single ended is usually noticeable though.
It seems that another wrench has been thrown into the works with the ThieAudio Voyager 9ā¦the graph is very similar to the Voyager 14.
V9 has 8 BA and 1 DDā¦BGGAR really likes itā¦the question is will it go the path of the Fearless Roland and be controversial or will it deliver Voyager 14 quality at 50-60% the price. Based on the graph, Iām inclined to the think that this looks really really promising.
Really curious about the V9 also. Iām a guy that loves some dynamic bass so I was never too interested in the current offerings. If the V9 brings the goods at a sub $500 price point it will be very interesting.
I believe BGGAR said its gonna be around $600. For the most part i trust his opinion but I think Legacy 9 (Voyager 9) is going through its honeymoon phase. For the sake of transparency I should say that I bought the Voyager 14 because of his repeated praise so I may be biased but i would like to see if the Legacy 9 will stand the test of time. If it does then save yourself some money and go with that instead of V14. Its pretty much just as good.
Couple of things to consider is that V14 uses both Sonion and Knowles BAs which appears to be the best in the business. Additionally, V14 has 2 dip switches that can dynamically change the sound signature a bit. I think thats something to think about.
Yeah, it looks like the Voyager 9 name got changed to Legacy 9ā¦and the price set at $549
No pictures of them yet, but it says they are going to be wood shells (rather than just wood faceplates)ā¦Iām really curious what these will look like and if the wood shell (vs acrylic/resin/metal) will impart a different sonic characteristic or if the routing of drivers through bores toward the nozzle means the shell material doesnāt affect the sonic characteristics like it does for headphones like ZMF.
The legacy 9 has both Knowles and Sonion BAās. The wood housing will only serve the DD driver as the rest will be with soundbores and therefore the wood casing should not have such a great impact on the sound of these.
Purchased the L3 on Linsoulās eBay store Sunday morning and got a tracking number that evening. I also noticed that L9 popped up yesterday, but thereās still no V14 available only the V3.
SUPER curious about the L3. Please let us know what you think about them when youāve had a chance to listen. Iāve stayed away from Thieaudio because I wasnāt interested in all BA. But now this is in my price range and has a dynamic for bass so they have my attention.
Truth be told, I only bought the L3 'cause they had switches on them. I donāt have one of those yet, so what the hell! Iāll report back once I receive them.
As an update to the V14, they still sound phenomenal and also now that they are thoroughly broken in I prefer the treble switch up position. Prior to break in I preferred both switches up.
