Thanks for the detailed review. I guess I wait till it arrives.

It’s somewhat powerful balanced, but the 880 isn’t balanced so the nx4 or xd05 would be the better choice in this case.

do you believe that nx4 is a general step up soundwise over most of the under 150 bluetooth dacs like the earstudio and BTR series? maaaaaaaaaaan i think imma get that one lol

i can hook it up to my speakers too right?

at 130 it’s not bad, considering how much i would be spending on the BTR5 or the FIIO K2

I think so imo as it’s got a lot of power behind it and a pretty nice dac, but no bluetooth. If you go with the x05 though you can get a bluetooth module later on; here is a good ebay deal (even more powa). I think it’s a better unit than the nx4 imo for this price. You can also upgrade the opamps later for better sound too

oh that’s cool, i never have luck with ebay and PO BOX but my bro says it works for him so it might be possible. and i honestly don’t mind not having bluetooth. not a big deal. ill get either the the x05 or the nx4 then. if possible the x05 for the powa haha. thnx man, gonna write em down on my list

While he was pretty positive of the Empyreans, as an owner of both I wouldn’t put the Noirs in the same conversation with them. If all you care about is bass, the Noirs have it, but the bass is sloppy and bleeds way into the mids. The treble rolls off so much that you miss a lot of details in tracks. The Empyreans have very tight bass and extremeley good low end. They may not have the detail of some other high-end headphones and still have some of that Meze treble roll off, but they are a much more pleasant listening experience
