one DAC to rule them all.
I’m a stage and imaging ho. And @toruc_macta couldn’t agree more about the what measurement do you have to look at to indicate staging.

It’ll be great when we have a few more HFGF owners give their firsthand feed back instead of…yeah but no but comments…Synergy feed backs would also be cool
Sadly (or maybe luckily) I’ve not owned either of the DACs so I’m just here loitering. Looking forward to the discussion as Topping will always have a soft spot in my heart. (D10).
When you get past the entry level I believe there’s no truly bad piece of equipment for the most part, there’s just preference and synergy. Can we all just get along?
So it must be the headphone/speakers. Cant speak to the whats involved in measuring headphones.with speakers theres equipment for that.
The little i know, for speakers you get a testing microphone laptop and software to map in-room speaker response. So you got a setup that produces the desired sound you can then graph that out.
$899.00 whew too rich for my blood.
I’d be very surprised if you could graph soundstage or imaging…
As I said. i’m not in this fucking war of measurements vs non-measurements. I always look at measurements before buying audio gear. So don’t go throwing the whole war at me or this topic now…
I looked up the measurements and it looks like a damn impressive DAC. But imaging matters to me. So without starting a war please?
Would that make atmos tracks on apple music sound awesome ? Thinking about getting my first headphone setup for apple music since they do hires streaming.
Clicked on the little lossless icon on my apple device for ACDC and it said 24/192hz now im itching fot setup to play that back.
Got the topping e30 on the way for one of my TVs.
Got a rave review on ASR. Maybe not so steep, think i might want this.
PEEL THE PEEL
Ha ha!
I am genuinely curious about listening impressions though. Would love for you to share when you get the chance.
I genuinely would enjoy talking about my impressions, I just don’t want to be attacked. I like it a lot.
For the record, I do not stream music. Everything in my library is lossless. So I don’t care about MQA nor did I want it but it was not optional.
Have I ever attacked you? I’m confused…?
That I already concluded, but would love to hear which aspects you love about it though and what the DAC does well.
What else do you guys need to know? I happened to check and what do you know? Zeo’s loves it! Not sure if he describes the sound at all in this video, but it’s MQA, (bad) would have been cheaper without it, but it’s the cleanest DAC you’ll ever need and a DAC should be 10% of your total budget but don’t buy a crap DAC, just buy a decent DAC cause it’s just a DAC.
You’re welcome.
I just wanna know how good the dynamic range is… someone please confirm
We had the unique opportunity to have a good data point and comparison between the BF2 and the D90SE, but I guess we’ll never know
I meant subjective impressions. Like does it sound like the contrast between loud and quiet parts is very obvious? You probably already know that I’m not too good with graphs and measurements, but appreciate the effort so thanks again.
I’d like to know get a glimpse into both macro and micro dynamics sound and some examples of certain tracks. Specifically how the decay on things like cymbals sounds given the stellar numbers, or how the leading and trailing thump of a kick drum feels. It’s a sexy AF stack when you look at it with the A90.
But Ze’os said, “All DACs are the same,” so does this even worth over the E30? I just bought the Apple USB-C to 3.5mm dongle because Joshua Valo’ur said it was comparable to $100 DACs.
You buy it for the features, it’s got XLR output
