šŸ”¶ Tripowin X BGGAR Mele

Iā€™m glad to hear that! Natural is on top of my list of requirements. Also just listen to a very broad range of music. The people vouching for its EDM and other house music genres checked an important box, your approval based on your music library checked a box and the final one is the classical and vocal centric music. Thanks man, really glad this iem exists.

Thanks for the trust. Vivaldi and Tchaikovsky is as far as classical goes though I like Verdi as well.
Violins are hard to get right to my ear and they sound pleasing on Mele.
Violins (it seems) are as complicated as any guitar with distortion pedals and hard to get right or real.

Can you all try playing mele with HiByMusic app and try listening while plugin ā€œEFOtech SVirtualizerā€ is on. It makes iems with into your face soundstage larger (atleast outside the head). I tried it with blon and it increase a little bit in details while not having that into your face soundstage. It also increase in separation. I tried turning it on and off. Well for me, I am really enjoying it because I got rid of that into your face feeling while keeping everything just fine (no weird high frequency etc) for me. I would just like to know what do you think about that and your experience with that on melešŸ˜Š

I played Diana Krall it sounds very good. I have not played Norah Jones but she is in my library and sure she sounds fine. I played the Planets, Pictures at an Exhibition and some Vivaldi it sounded very nice. This what I meant that it could play other genres well.

Ordered 2am on Aug 20th, received today in UK. Guess itā€™s time to Melee some good music. :sunglasses:

Immediate impression right out the box: everything sounds FULLER.
Compared against the best IEM I have at the moment, Tin T4 (Spinfit CP145 tips), the T4 now sounds shrill and narrow. Not by much, but noticeable. Iā€™m feeding music off the FiiO K3 amp, Mele using stock tips and cable. Mele is at 12:30 volume while T4 is at 1 oā€™clock. Take the following short review with a grain of salt 'cos there might be a honeymoon factor.

Using the three tracks as comparison:

  1. Billy Joel - Just the Way You Are
  2. miwa - ćƒ’ć‚«ćƒŖćø (THE FIRST TAKE)
  3. Camo & Krooked - Loving You Is Easy

Mele (stock) compared to Tin T4:

  1. Everything sounds warmer, fuller, and more airy.
  2. Kick drum and bass has a quicker attack but fuller body. Guitar plucks on the other hand are similar on both IEMs.
  3. Billy Joelā€™s vocals on the T4 is thin and flat compared to Mele.
  4. The sax at 1:01 on the T4 is sharp to the ear while Mele is more rounded off.
  5. The ā€œdingā€ sound at 1:07 is ASMR compared to T4.
  6. Sax solo from 3:00 onwards, Mele lets the sax come forth to the center of focus while on the T4 the sax still remains in the background with the maracas just as loud as the sax solo. Maracas in the same section for the Mele is further back than the sax.
  1. Miwaā€™s voice on the T4 sound shrill against the fullness from Mele. Mele also carries more of the studio chamber echo for the vocal than the T4, which sound straight into the mic. (1:08-1:40)
  2. Piano and guitar sound further back for Mele than the closeness/loudness from the T4.
  3. Strings from 2:25 onwards sound further back but still clear on the Mele. Once again itā€™s the vocals on the Mele thatā€™s rounder more spaced out (3D) than the T4 singing straight into your earholes.
  4. Overall, vocals and guitar are sharper on the T4. But in terms of strings, I give it to T4 since thereā€™s more presence and more lively than Mele. Studio spaciousness Mele wins big time, it sound as if the front and back space is stretched further on the Mele.
  1. Hi-hat and the highs from 0:20 onward are more evident on the T4 this time, giving it more of a tingly ASMR touch over Mele which hides the highs in the back.
  2. Bass rumble and attack from 0:33 Mele wins, but the slap in the highs around 0:39-0:41 again itā€™s the T4 that gives more impact.
  3. 0:48-1:05 surprised me a lot since judging from the former two impressions I though that the bigger differentiation between the lows and highs on the T4 would give me more ASMR feel, but Mele compensated that feeling with the spacial echo and airiness. Both gave me an ASMR feel but in different compartments: Mele gives you the tingles by sealing you in a chamber hall and blasting you with that bass rumble, while T4 probes your brain with that crazy fast highs (slap) with the lows going boom-boom-bap.
  4. 1:18-1:33 is decisive as T4 makes the guitar slapping go extremely sharp and unbearable, both the timbre and the slapping. Mele, however, maintains the slapping but dials down the timbre shrillness, making it enjoyable.

Overall, Iā€™m quite happy with Mele that it generally beats the T4 in nearly every aspect, just probably not the highs on some EDM tracks. On any vocal tracks Mele hands down wins with the airiness of space and fullness of vocal. Hope these three tracks show how Mele vs T4 perform on different genres. And now listening to other tracks, soundstage on the Mele is just phenomenal. T4 ainā€™t nowhere close in terms of soundstage!

Sure, that is the other half of my library. Iā€™ll give you a few examples above. My baseline as reference is Mangird Tea, which is a midcentric IEM that costs 6x the value of Mele.

  • London Grammar - Help me lose my mind
Her voice sounds great and natural. Her voice has a nice range on it. Itā€™s not thin at all, but itā€™s not on Hyper-Thick level. This song has a great replay on Mele since Disclosureā€™s beat will sound amazing. Her vocals slight behind the beat due to Meleā€™s tuning. Overall, great replay IMO.

  • London Grammar - Metal and Dust
Same as above, with more forward vocals since the beat is more midcentric with less kickbass. Great replay.

  • London Grammar - Nightcall
Lovely replay, specially when her voices goes lower or higher than normal. No complaints here, very balanced.

Conclusion: London Grammar is the kind of Female vocals that Mele will replay just fine, great for its value.

  • Norah Jones - Donā€™t know why
Great balance on the overall replay. Her vocals can get slight thin when she goes high up, but thatā€™s also because of the record itself. Instruments sound amazing, great timbre, great replay for the bracket.

  • Norah Jones - Come away with Me
    Same as above.

Conclusion: Norah can sound a bit thin on some notes but thatā€™s also due to her style of singing and voice. Mele handles it just fine, great for the its value.

  • Agnes Obel - Riverside
Piano sounds great. Great timbre overall, mids are forward as expected. Good replay, short soundstage. Lacks some air and detail, but expected for the bracket.

  • Agnes Obel - The Curse
Great double bass replay and textures. Great piano high notes. Same as above.

Conclusion: Agnes Obel is the type of songs that Mele will struggle with. Youā€™ll need more stage and detail for it to go a step above, but you wonā€™t also find it in this price. Youā€™re at least looking for something like Mangird Tea, Oxygen, Lokahi, RSV5, Alladin, etc.

It will be great for Female vocals more popish tho. Adele, Lana Del Rey, Jessie J, etc will be no problem, but once you enter more hardcore stuff, most IEMs will fail.

Let me know if you need more tests.

Wow thatā€™s such an in depth analysis! Thanks man! Iā€™m pleased with your descriptions and yeah Norah can get thin up top and as you say itā€™s how she does it. I really like that though. If I could I would just jump on an O2 or mangird tea but those sorts of purchases will happen when I can do it without blinking an eye at the cost. For that reason also deciding to not pull the trigger on the timeless.

So far though, Mele will be my endgame for the next while and certainly can be happy in this range. Been happy with the bl01 for the past while and honestly just bummed by itā€™s fit. The benefits of not being much of a critical listener I think.

Iā€™m just leaving it as a disclaimer, because people will prolly read or screenshot this and distort it as if Iā€™m saying Mele will beat Mest on replay.

You should only buy what youā€™re confortable with. I was assbroke 2 years ago, and something like Mele would be gold for me. I just got lucky that Iā€™m great at what I do for work, and got some cash to spare. Iā€™m nowhere near rich, tho. This is the reason I love sets like Mele.

Mele isnā€™t a giant killer. As I usually say, giant killers are giants that fit you library better. In my opinion, itā€™s the best bang for the buck up to 50 USD. Forget who tuned it, forget who sells it, forget everything. Focus on how much money you have and what you can get, and that for me is Mele, Teas and probably Mest Mk2. But all of this is subjective, ofc.

I totally understand and congrats with the successful work life. My current motto is that I try not to buy things if I canā€™t buy it several times over. Especially with luxuries like this hobby which is not necessarily a need. The hobby though can get you sucked in sometimes but often my cautious nature pulls me back and reminds me that this should never be a top priority.

Thanks for the words. Although Iā€™m getting on a phase that Iā€™m starting to just pissed and money is not everything. Iā€™d work less, even if I got less. Would trade most of my gear for better quality of life outside work or with my gf. I got into this hobby because at least itā€™s something I can appreciate during work, and helps with peopleā€™s dumb questions when you canā€™t hear it

Sorry for the off-topic, Iā€™ve been just on a mood, guess I needed to vent. Back to trolling threads.

Iā€™m still waiting for the Meleā€¦ It is closer and closer

in the meantime, I received another set of IEM to pleasuring waitingā€¦

for a pleasing price

Edited: Some AliEx tips: collect coins, collect coupons, look for ā€˜spend & saveā€™ promo (usually on big seasonal Ali promo, the next will be 11.11), for EU customers Ali adjust the price by VAT if value extended 150USD (only if you use coupons instead of codes) and the most crucial look for a good shop, e.g. DD-Audio Store

Always ask for low custom declaration when you spend more than 150 USD, e.g. 20-30 USD :joy:
