Odd - I only ever got a YunExpress tracking number and the Mele was delivered by my postie (Royal Mail) last week .
Why not just get Apple dongle?
In europe they are slightly worse than in the states, and they break all the time ;-;
I own the EU one. Still the best 8 bucks of your journey
I never destroyed it thoā¦ Iām carefull with stuff. Sometimes. Or never. I went with my DAP and Tribid into the sea, no water
They were able to provide me with the RM tracking for the last stretch - which had the incorrect ādeliveredā status. Arguing that something wasnāt delivered (when everyone was home, no signature was apparently asked for, etc.) is tricky. RM ended up agreeing and giving a āreferenceā number that no oneās really sure what to do with.
Iām sorry your sister didnāt have a smooth experience
Get JSAUX or Ugreen dongle dacs on Amazon. The Aliexpress equivalent is Jcally JM08L.
Thanks!
Iāve been trying to make sure when I mention it that the emphasis is on the last stage of delivery (not the dealerās fault), and that Linsoul have been very good to communicate with, much better than any other experience contacting a Chinese dealer. Iāve been pleasantly surprised and genuinely impressed. Weāre all used to getting stock deflections and responses in broken English, with 24 hours between recommunication of the same message. Linsoul have got back quickly and specifically each time.
My family live in a lone house, which is odd because the best explanation for ādeliveredā being wrongly set is a delivery to the wrong house/address. A house down the road from them has a similar name, and the residents have been away for a week, so we have fingers crossed that a non-regular postal worker confused the house names, and if so, that the residents are interested in doing the right thing. Theft isnāt even a possibility given the times/circumstances of the apparent delivery.
We really hope this is the case because any money aside, Iād just love her to hear them as soon as possible, and if that itās up the road and things get resolved then thereās no need for restocking or reshipping.
I canāt wait for my own set to arrive. I have a set of IEMs I am very content with, so I mostly bought Mele to honor the fact that I had said I would - but Iāve got more and more excited because the Mele profile sounds like the perfect complement to my main set. Althought I donāt normally go down the multiple-sets-for-multiple-profiles path (because of money, I think itās the way to go ideally), for $50 I am totally fine with a special cases setā¦ especially when it is so versatile and has such good stand-alone qualities.
Iām all about saving money in this hobby, so I will be very open minded about whether I get similar satisfaction from the Mele as I do from my current favorites, in which case Iād keep just the Mele. But my impression is that I will love them equally but differently. What an amazing pricing that keeping both should be no issue.
Going back to my sisterās pair - Iām stoked to hear from people everywhere that the fit is phenomenal, and in most cases the most comfortable of any IEM theyāve tried, and ādisappear into their earsā. It was very hard before the Mele came along to pick something with no major audio weaknesses that didnāt have a peculiar fit. Sheās never worn cable-up earphones before, struggles with buds (like I do). The Mele is a zero compromise choice for her to hear great sound all round, and most likely get a good seal and comfort too. For $50. Itās nuts. Thank you.
The two paths I can go down and enjoy equally with IEMs is a warm almost tubey sound (I loved the Lokahi for that) or a mostly neutral sub-bass boosted set (like the Aladdins, Clairs, or Teas). I just checked the Lokahi vs Mele on squig.link and I am pumped. All the midbass of the Lokahis plus a beautiful sub-bass eleveation plus single DD timbre - upper mids and treble look right on for my tastes tooā¦
One thing I learned from the Lokahi is that as much as I enjoy technicalities like soundstage, overall tonality has a much greater impact on my enjoyment of music. Really canāt wait to hear them because the tonality of the Meles, as graphed and described so far, looks masterful and hugely enjoyable. I feel like Iāll want to play Hendrix on them straight away.
You are an awesome brother.
I read what you wrote and kept thinkingā¦āthis dude is an awesome broā. I have no siblings so I dig that you are helping intro your sister to comfortable long replay ear gear.
These were intentionally tuned for long listening and the epic fit was dumb luck. I couldnāt know till all the feedback but itās a light comy set for sure.
Thanks for the trust
Interesting! I will hunt down those high DR rips! Thank you for that!
And yeah itās crazy how little the medium really matters. At the end of the day itās about the human putting those raw tunes into the medium how he sees fit and it just so happens that back in the day they would treat vinyl and CD differently in terms of dynamic range but in the opposite way the mediums specs would lead you to believe. Some websites state there was a āloudness warā or something going on with early CDs.
Thatās right. Maybe @hawaiibadboy can explain better, but afaik clipping DR help raise average sound level, which appearantly is more attractive for mass audience because of psycho-acoustics and / or lesser audio gear. High DR tunes sound quieter on comparison. But when you turn up the volume, you get more impact out of percussions for example, more texture, more resolution in busy tracks.
Youāre into metal maybe I can help by PM.
Yeah man a PM would be much appreciated. I found some Black Sabbath, Opeth and Tool, Mastodon vinyl rips and the two former sounded wayyy better than the usual digital but the two latter sounded the same if not worse. At any rate, donāt want to derail HBBās thread about this. Just thought it might be interesting to others who are also into older music.
Vinyl always was better. The problem is itās not that simple. The last turntable, tonearm and phono cartridge I had was over 6k. Then you need an integrated amp or amp and preamp combo. You can well add 4 k . Then you need speakers there is 3 k added to price, Thatās for very good but not top of the line gear. That total is 13 k and there is more you need. You need a room that is suitable for gear. This a side of the hobby I did for 40 years It was great fun
Personal audio is very good and much cheaper as a whole. You can get gear to do computer audio with digital and it sounds wonderful. You can figure 2500 for a good streamer. You still need amplification and speakers. The bang for the buck is where you are. The other two I listed are better in many ways and for a top flight system add thousands and thousands of dollars.
I could put very nice systems for less that be better but your happy with Teas. The Dusk I have on loan from my son is dam nice also . Just a thought for you to ponder.
Can someone compare the Mele and the Reecho sg03 for me please ?
Thx ordered silver one looks cool
Currently listening to some Jazz while working but I just gotta point this out:
āJust Coolināā by Art Blakey & The Jazz Messengers is such a joy with the Mele, along with other Jazz tracks as well but this is quite the highlight. At the 0:39 - 0:55 mark, the right channel is just full of Sax and Drum-my goodness with a nuanced of subtle bass detail on the left and the piano notes in the middle.
After that, the instrumental transitions to the Sax in the left channel at the 2:32 - 2:55 mark is pretty smooth.
At the 4:33 - 4:55, while the piano is the focus in the mids, you can hear the details of the Cello string on the left channel on how that person was plucking it with the drum snare on the right channel.
For the Drum solo lovers, at 6:23 - 8:06 mark, goes for all the drum details on the right channel and itās quite detailed too! I canāt explain properly on the drum part but for those who listens to drum focused songs can give a better explanation than I do!
Kinda amazing to feel the imaging of the Mele is almost as good as the Fiio FH3 at this point.
Iāll give it a listen later after work!
iTāS SAFE.
