As far as we know, yes. Time will be the true decider, but it is possible to have condensation build with no impact on performance.
I’m not the owner of the video , I’m just sharing a sound comparison video made by Dan’s Audio Reviews. To my ears, Between Olina and Mele have similar instrument positions, but Mele has more body on instruments and vocals, has a little more depth, but is lacking in the upper treble. I think putting mesh on the Olina vents is the perfect solution to add thickness to the vocals and instruments, namely to add emphasis in the bass sector. But I’m sure the sound technicality is definitely better Olina than Mele in real life
Is the mesh mod just putting a filter over the inside vent? [IE: not the one above the HBB logo?]
yes, you just cover the vent next to the nozzle with one of the provided filters
haha yeah I knew you werent the owner. I tagged @tkddans in it since he is the “Dan” of Dan’s Audio Reviews. To me the Olina has much better technicalities than the Mele. I actually prefer the Olina overall to the Timeless I had although. I am too sensitive to the 8k bump thats on the OH10 and Timeless.
I listen to Dan’s reviews while in my car, driving. The sound in this car is so crappy I don’t get the sound differences 90% of the time
This I have no problem with being tempted.
I was immediately liking the Olinas a lot, but the filter mod makes them IDEAL for my tastes. Already exceptional for vocal, jazz or acoustic, this mod brings that sub bass to quality levels for EDM, Hip-Hop and Pop. Now they play nice with all my library. Ran them off of my V50 and Soloist 3XR.
Satisfed. Fully.
Thanks again HBB for bringing these gems to our community.
Instead of blocking the front vent with just a tape, I think you should try using tuning cotton/filter. It ranges from Y1-Y6 (less additional bass - more bass). This will also help you find your preferred amount of bass, as well as basically not choking your driver to death.
Question to everyone with driver knowledge: Not only did I place one of the included filters over the inner vent, I also stuffed 1/8 of a round foam cover, used on ear buds, into each ear tip. (I did this to help reduce upper mids and highs to alleviate tinnitus.) The question is, could this damage the driver in the same way that fully taping off the vent could?
No

I wish more answers in this hobby could be so concise. Thanks!
Do you have a link?
Sadly, I have heard from another owner of the Olina that the channel imbalance issue persists, although they said it was due to liquid ear wax buildup on the filter. He said the problem was resolved when the nozzle filter was replaced with the Oxygen filter and not with the stock Olina ones…
@hawaiibadboy, might be good to keep track of these issues; perhaps Tripowin didn’t fix the issue after the Mele.
I’ve taken my tip rolling up a level and reversed the grey tips to make them shorter and widen the bore. So far so good but I’ll report back on my findings after the next couple of days
Yeah, sure
Love a spreadsheet
Bro, this sheets are all pimped out.
Too bad it cant be excel but Google sheets, else I’d even take it a step further
