Love it, man.
and opinionsā¦music and opinionsā¦no more no less
The vent mod doesnāt look to be as noticeable on frequency response, but the dual dampener mod is.
I am still running stock until Tripowin starts selling Olina mesh dampeners or someone finds a better mesh combo.
I am guessing that my ears like that the dual dampener mod tamps down that 5k peak. For me it turns them into a viable all day IEM for me. I sort of view IEMs as album, half-day, or all-day. I tend to like ones that I donāt have to time manage, because I wear them during my work day most of the time.
Yeees! Give me non fatiguing all roundersā¦
Doesnāt matter how good anything is if I can only use them for half an hour.
I think Dan is not as treble sensitive as I am, or most really, as he seems to prefer bright IEMs. However, I am not the only one who picked each of the 5 IEM correctly out of the blind testing at the end. The modded Olina is very much Olina, just tamed a little.
I prefer Oxygen to Hana 2021 in his sound demo, and he couldnāt hear any difference either in that pairing. Iām prolly a little like Shortbus in that if something is hot at 5k, I notice it immediately.
Off topic, but related. Can anyone point me to a 10 band graphic EQ for iPhones (2020 iPhone SE)? I have a 10 band freeware EQ for my MB Air M1 called eqMac, and want something similar for iPhone, and Iām willing to buy it also.
update : i removed one filter from the double mesh mod without looking which side it was and i had a hard time telling them appart as placebo was out of the loop. so dan is up to something, i am going to spend a few day stock to check if something bothers me.
You might try Poweramp. It has a maximum 32 bands of eq. I just donāt know if thereās an ios version as Iām using an android phone.
I donāt know if many people remember that I said I didnāt get why everyone find olina technically great while I though my set wasnāt as good as a 40$ set.
I may have found something: I changed the cable (from tripowin Noire to moondrop Ariaās), and then I got everything people was talking about: less bass, a short sound on some occasions, and great stage and imaging.
I have to tell you Iām not a cable believer at all. My conclusion is that the Tripowin Noire cable may be a pile of crap. Iāll try and make further tests to check my assumptions.
It has been graphed, itās no placebo. Your brain is just used to its signature by now and the difference is not that big, especially if you listening with both ears on.
There arenāt system wide EQ apps for iPhone really.
You can buy a dedicated music player app like Neutron that has PEQ if you just want to use it with your own music files.
If you want system wide, your best bet is to get a Qudelix 5K. The companion app lets you set and store 20 custom PEQ settings on it, and that will work with any music you play on your iPhone. It can work either wired or through Bluetooth.
The Qudelix was my solution to this.
Ouch, i ordered a noire cableā¦ Can anybody confirm if this cable is a bad option?
is there some reason you did not use the stock spc cable?
crapā¦
In regards to the whole iPhone EQ thing, if you were to buy a FiiO Bluetooth DAC eventually, (theyāre such great value, I believe almost anyone whoās on the go should have one) they offer EQ through their app as long as youāre using the device like a BTR3K or BTR5.
Initially, the Noire cable being modular, it allowed me to switch between sources.
Then I changed for the Ariaās cable because a) it was more accessible than the olinaās cable which is in the box and b) I wanted to try again that fabric cable (all my other cables have plastic around, not fabric.
Iām not sure yet whether itās the cable: it can perfectly be placebo for what I know. And if itās the cable, it could be only mine.
A/B with another iem. Cable might be borked
