Trying on headphones

So when picking up my iLoud Micros at Guitar Center today, I took the liberty to try on a few different headphones. The DT 770 Studios felt like my 990s but with alot less clamp. The M40x and M50x didn’t feel too much different from each other. K371 and K361 felt almost identical, and 371 seemed to have a bit more bass (much appreciated), though I’m a bit iffy on the mechanism they use to extend/collapse.
The one pair that REALLY stood out? AudioTechnica M60x… Has anyone else tried on a pair of headphones, and the moment they touched your ears, went “N-OPE!” and took them off immediately?

Honestly I was a bit confused by z’s m60x review as imo they aren’t anything that special

I liked the m60x, but I generally dont mind on ears and they sounded fine to me

It’s not the sound, but the feel. No audio playing, but the moment they touch your ears, you pull them right back off.

yeah it’s not for everyone. on ears are pretty commonly disliked

Can’t say you’ve ever had an experience like this though?

I have, It was these. These are my little brother’s don’t worry I have given him a comfort upgrade. Stiff pads cheap plastic and pads with not rotation

I used to have an older version. Thought they where great at the time… But then again, I used to think Skullcandy Crushers where the bomb. Now I understand just how bad they are.

Yeah gave them a listen everything sounds pulled back tinny and lacks any sense of separation or Dynamics. Has no soundstage in the sense of there is only one layer to it and puts all the sound on that layer

If I am going to chose on which type of headphones that I have a better experience overall? I would say I prefer over ears than on-ears for it fits me just all right and as well increases the sound isolation that I needed from those. Sure, there are some headphones that I have tried that are on-ears and sound decent enough (like the Audio Technica ATH-SJ55, DJ street cans that I used to own back then and yes I was in a transitional period back then going towards from Mid-Fi to Hi-Fi.) but, overall the over ear style of headphones will always be the best bet for me in terms of “situational” events.
