Trying to convert some monoprice headphones into 4.4mm balanced and need help

Hello people I need help figuring out what the difference between the right positive and right negative are. Is the negative ground? I doubt it but that’s why I’m here asking for help. Thanks in advance for the insight.

For balanced cabling each channel : R+ R- L+ L- will have their own independent wire going into whatever balanced connector you choose. The idea is that the am can then push as well as pull because each channel has its own circuit (without sharing a ground) so it is generally more efficient. So regardless of the end connectors you’ll have four independent wires on four independent pins. no shielding necessary.

So if I understand d you correctly r+ and r- are both using the +signal same as left+/-?

This is a good resource. Singled ended cables share a ground with both the r- & l-, while the balanced would have its own.

Just make sure the pin out matches the source.
