I’m new to this group and I dont know what the rules are for copying and pasting videos from YouTube over to here.
Two weeks ago I didn’t even know how to share videos from other locations like you tube and show them here. Computers are not my thing , hifi’s and music are.
Thanks to a fellow members help I figured out how to do it.
I’ve since shared some music videos or sound content here just to help those interested in some of the new artists (primarily jazz) that I listen to often. Every artists album or track that I’ve shared here is one that I personally own the physical media for, be it CD, vinyl and often both if I really like the music.
Today, for the first time, I was denied access to 5 or 6 different artists videos/ tracks when trying to review the same YouTube videos prior to sharing here. The message on the screen basically said Access to this video is restricted to YouTube premium accounts only and therefore none of these audio or video tracks could be opened in YouTube and shared here…
Many people share YouTube videos here it seems, including myself recently.
Is this considered wrong?
It would seem that downloading videos from YouTube without their associated commercials attached is not good for YouTube and I can somewhat understand this move on their part , although it’s a shame because us sharing awareness of new artists here increases their music’s exposure and ultimately increases album sales. But that doesn’t make money for YouTube…
Are their Moderators on this site that can clarify this situation for me. If I’m in the wrong here, I’ll immediately delete my shared videos and close my account here if that’s even possible… I’m too friggin’ old for drama…

hey Dobbs, welcome and feel free to share videos off YouTube. it’s covered by fair use law and jazz I think.
