Anything on the epos h6pros open and closed?
I tried the h3 pro hybrid and thought it was really good. Assuming the closed h6pro is just the wired equivalent then I would recommend it. Two things worth mentioning, itās a more neutral sound so donāt expect a bass cannon and cup size is smaller than it appears (though very comfortable for me personally). I think most people would be happy with this option.
For comparisons, Iāve tried about every headphone that is recommended for gaming so there is a lot I could compare it to. I currently game on headphones and not a dedicated headset but I did try a few headsets out of curiosity awhile back (steelseries, epos, hyperx, audeze, and other) and these were my favorite.
What are some good headphones that are around the $250 mark that are good for music and gaming? I do not have an amp or dac since I am coming from a headset.
Thoughts on the Coolermaster mh751 vs the epos h6pro (closed)?
@Falenkor
Did you had the chance to look into Audio Technica R70x ? Some say it is a very competitive headphone below the HD800s.
I am asking because i have the DT1990pro connected to the Mayflower Ark M2 (PS5) but they are too heavy for me and i get neck pain from wearing them too long. I have also the Steelseries Arctis Pro which are more comfy to me but i am looking for a new setup and switching back to pc gaming.
Not that i have not read your posts but where to go from here whithout loosing sound quality?
After reading through this post I am still undecided which headphones would be the right one. Iām looking for an open headphone for immersive gaming (good clarity and bass). With a wide soundstage with depth, good imaging for pvp games like Battlefield and great comfort. Any suggenstions would be nice.
I think you just described the dt990 edition. Anything with much more bass will start to mess with the fine details for competetive gaming.
DT990 in 600ohm variant? I need more power for that, at the moment I use a Fulla3. Can you recommend something similar to the Fulla3 for the EU market?
DT990 ist super treble heavy, i wouldnt really recommend it. 600 Ohm or 32 Ohm also doesnt matter, these old drivers have such a big unit variation, you could get a 32 version thats better than 600 ohm, or a 600 ohm version thats better than the 32 ohm version, its just pure luck.
In my opinion the Tygr 300R is just a better DT990, they have much less murderous treble but still offer a wide soudstage, good imaging and a fun sound signature. I think the Tygrs are a good compromise between fun/competitive headphones, they do both quite well.
and they will be easy to drive on my Fulla3 right?
Both 32 and 250 Ohm should get over 100dB of loudness with a fulla 3, that will be loud enough.
TYGR would be my recommendation for similar reasons and since he indicated heās in the EU he can probably get B-stock for a bit cheaper beyerdynamic Outlet - Headphones & Microphones at low prices
So I have the Tygr right now, maybe 6 hours use time at the moment.
I donāt like the headphones that much, unfortunately. The shape of the earcubs are much more comfortable to me on the Sennheiser. That round earcubs on the Beyerdynamic are not for me. The sound is more fun but also really muffled to me. In music I did not noticed it but in games for sure (Warzone/Vermintide 2). Maybe I just donāt like the sound signature. I canāt really describe it other than that it sounds dull to me.
So I am still in search for better upgrade to my PC37X is the PC38X worth it? I think I want an upgrade to the sound signature of the PC37X, but to be honest I donāt really know for sure
I like the following:
Beyerdynamic Tygr 300r - great gaming headphone and very fun for music
HD58x or HD6XX - solid in their own right for gaming and music⦠probably would benefit from a dac/amp
HD560s - really enjoyed this for gaming and music as well
Iām convinced that warzone 2 needs a closed back headphone if thatās the primary game you are playing. You get better rumble to hear footsteps and the box audio is so soft any ambient noise seems to compete and over-power it. I would probably recommend something like the 770 pro. If you want something that sounds maybe more clinical the hd560s is an open back and one I really enjoyed for gaming.
Closed headphones do not appeal to me at all for this application. For the gym or travel they are okay. Cool that you recommend the 560s, I ordered them last night. Do you know if a boom mic negatively affects the sound quality? Then I would have a headset
It is an extremely competitive, comfortable, light, easy to drive headphone like its brothers 1000x and 2000x. Overall performance makes it worthy of being added to one of the top dogs within its budget alongside others such as the DT 1990⦠if you were after a clearer tone because the 1990 feels too aggressively in your face it may be a solid option
Mh751 over h6pro⦠epos headphones are weird tuning with a lot of bass⦠sat with closed and open and while casually the h6pro is quite nice as is the comfort and build⦠the bass on the closed back just as an example is just too much when I was playing and notably would crowd up some sounds so potential issues with some separations as some of the sounds are melding
For the most part, my recommendations in the guide have not changed so I would encourage searching there or asking around in a respective thread
considering the frequency response as i mention previously⦠its okay but the bass response would need dialed in⦠the h6 closed is noticeably harder and deeper hitting in the bass causing it to crowd up many sounds when I used it depending on the game⦠these headsets can still technically be used for smaller time fps such as cod, counter strike, etc but wonāt perform well at all in any larger fps such as hunt, tarkov, etc
hmm its unfortunate the comfort of the tygrs pushes you away. However, the dull sound from the tygrs might be due to the more recessive mids and dampening⦠Sennheisers will be a more neutral tone but you can try 58x jubilee or 560s for good performance⦠I normally wont encourage a 6-- series less your okay with very intimate soundstage⦠however, do keep in mind that open back and good bass are a bit harder to find less you go into higher budgets.
gotten quite the messages related to this game⦠I am just going to put this game on blast for one of the absolute worst sound engines I have heard in my life thus far not to mention itās random cases of glitching or suddenly cutting out completely mixed with static. If your going to go for a headphone in this game⦠keep it intimate, keep it accurate, keep a good sound balance and the bass out of the way, the game hard limits large soundstage so there is no reason to go big here you want as clear and accurate as possible to be able to comfortably play this one.
Would be my suggestion⦠less they want a headset go for mmx300⦠if sennheiser go for pc38x for headset otherwise definitely 58x or 560s if you have a higher budget swing for the 6-- series especially 660s for its better imaging
not really, just with open backs you may have to tinker with some sound settings to make sure nothing bleeds in⦠some mics are hotter than others takes a bit of setup, but you should be fine
just a further note about these epos headsets, they arenāt going for any really set signature⦠they are trying to appeal to the most people as possible hence the very strange tunings. In practice, their signature is fine and will appeal to most people but if were talking serious competitive and making full use of our audio then I would not encourage their use in practice⦠They however, are by no means a bad headset and if were comparing headsets are some of the best in terms of casual quality headsets I have tried so kudos to that at the very least. Going to place an Edit on these, and sing a small praise atleast on the Epos that as far as agreeable signatures goes⦠I would say that personally speaking I prefer the sound of the Epos H6 over the tygr 300r due to the lacking presence in the mids of the tygr
Placed an order for those ZMF perf suedes for both my Sennheiser 660s and my Beyers. After seeing the material from another pad purchase in the past(universe pads) as well as his measurements on his vids, canāt wait to get them in since Dekoni changes the sound too much. Hoping for good results as well out of those cause I could use a pad swap. would be interesting if I could recommend them as an option here as well since most pad swaps sennheiser just doesnāt agree with to begin with and beyers signature changes a lot
I looked up the video, looks interesting, the pads really dont seem to influence the sound too much. I would be worried that it increases clamp tho.
But is it worth it for the HD660s for competive gaming? I love the HD660s for watchings videos, twitch streams, podasts, but for gaming i think they are just mediocre. It images well, but the small soundstage and relaxed treble made me really dislike it for gaming. As soon as there a few more things going on ingame, everything just sounds super congested, i think the HD560s just stomps the HD660s for comp gaming.
I tried the Dekoni Elite Velour and im not really a fan. The tygrs and DT880 get basically unusable with them, way too much bass bloat. I only found them ok on the DT1990, however i still prefered the analytic and balanced stock pads over them.
I also found that the compression of the pads really affected the sound a lot. I modded my DT1990 with the Edition Headband for better comfort, but in my expierence the Elite Velours only sound good with the higher clamping pro headband. As soon as the clamping force is less, the pads compress less and sound a lot worse to my ears.
